About Voice of Women Organization: Voice of Women Organization (VWO) is an Afghanistan-based non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-partisan organization that specifically strives for the revival of women’s role in Afghan societies through advocacy for women’s rights, their legal and social protection, and their capacity building. VWO informally established in Kabul in 1998 to run covert schools for girls under the repressive regime of the Taliban, VWO was registered with the Government of Afghanistan as the first women’s organization in the post-Taliban setup. The organization has since carried out scores of projects for the socio-economic advancement of Afghan women and girls. Voice of women organization established a headquarter office in 2004 in Herat province. In the beginning, it focused on women-related matters, and later on, in 2005, VWO established the first women protection center in Herat province. Currently, the organization is operating in 7 provinces (Herat, Ghor, Farah, Nimroz, Badghis, Daikondy, and Faryab) of Afghanistan having 6 projects with more than 240 employees working toward achieving its mission.

Job Description

Title: Project Coordinator

Dept. / Location: WPC-FGC- LAB & IC, Herat Afghanistan

Reports to: Program Manager

Description: The Project Coordinator is responsible to carry out all duties and responsibilities with direct supervision of Program Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading project planning and provide overall supervision to the LAB project.
  • Coordinate staff and overall resources
  • Manage project progress and adopt work as required
  • Ensure proper implementation and meet deadlines.
  • Managing relationships with staff, clients and stakeholders.
  • Managing large and diverse teams
  • Ensure the timely and within budget achievement of project objectives by proper monitoring of activities.
  • Ensure all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation in order to implement the project in compliance to VWO policies and procedure, and donor requirement.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents related to project.
  • Ensure that project procurements are made according to VWO procurement policy and procedures.
  • Ensure timely provision of expenses supporting document to finance department.
  • Assist with the preparation of progress reports, timeframes, schedule and budget as needed.
  • Unify the monthly narrative report of WPC-FGC-IC and LAB and submit to program department.
  • Alert security officer, caseworkers, and guard to any safety concerns.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, Donor, related NGOs and other VWO projects when needed.
  • Be problem solver to the team and communicate with management in case needed.
  • Be available in case of emergencies and provide support to project staffs.
  • Communicating relevant information to all team members, such as change in schedule dates, changes in the project’s requirements etc.
  • Track project activities/indicator and changes with Program officer.
  • Perform any other relevant assignments/duties that might be assigned by immediate supervisor

Job Requirement

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in relevant field of work like: Business Administration, Management, Leadership or Political Law. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of project coordination and management from conception to delivery in Afghanistan.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a project management /team lead function for Legal Aid / Justice and Judicial Services Technical Support and management in Afghanistan
  • Has experience in at least Four (4) projects as coordinator in the field of coordination and cooperation in Afghanistan and is fluent in Dari and Pashto Languages with strong proficiency in oral and written English.
  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control
