About Afghanistan Rehabilitation and Education Program (AREP): Afghanistan Rehabilitation and Educational Program (AREP) was established in 1994 as an independent non-governmental, non-profit organization, AREP's learning experience as a development organization comes from its working association with communities in different areas of Afghanistan. More importantly, the development and growth of the organization have been through an evolutionary process, AREP registered with the Ministry of Economy and member of Education international, ACBER, ANCB and DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S (The International Award for Young People). AREP is working for women, youths, children where disability is the top priority among the AREP three targeted groups in three main AREP core competencies/ technical expertise, a): EDUCATION (Formal and Informal education, b): CAPACITY BUILDING, Vocational Education Skills Trainings, Awareness Initiatives (Civic Education, Human Rights, Anti-Corruptions, Access to Justice, Peace Building & Conflict Resolution) and other trainings for aforementioned target groups] & c): COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT providing them assistance in multi-cultural program, government and community dialog, peace building and Rehabilitation & Small Infrastructure) throughout Afghanistan.
Job Description
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Promotion and Messaging
- Promote community-based nutrition and hygiene messages in areas of operation by spending time with communities (including in child-friendly and literacy-friendly ways).
- Undertake regular community meetings and promote the services on offer by the MHT to local communities.
- Prevents absentees from the program and re- enrolled defaulter from OPD SAM program back to the program by conducting home visits.
- Identify barriers to access and inform the Project Coordinator.
- Coordinate activities of the project with health Shuras and community elders to ensure that key stakeholders are engaged in the project.
- Participate in the capacity building activities of the project and deliver trainings where appropriate.
- Lead on the organisation and delivery of awareness-raising campaigns that focus on key health and nutrition messaging.
- Promote the importance of maternal and newborn health and nutrition including attachment, stimulation and well-being in situations of malnutrition and newborn health
- Meeting with Psychosocial Officers on a weekly basis to share information, identify trends and align messages
- Manage Community Health Workers (CHW) through setting monthly plans, on-the-job training, supervision, and review of activities under the CHW scope.
- Ensure the CHWs have appropriate kits and are equipped with the knowledge in social behavioural change communication strategies to make a difference in the health practices of the community.
- Provide gap fill support whenever needed within the MHT.
