Job Description

Job Summary:

The Tax Manager will lead all aspects of the organization’s tax compliance and planning. This includes ensuring compliance with Afghan tax laws, managing tax filings, and advising on tax implications of financial decisions. The role requires expertise in both local and international tax systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance and Filing:

  1. Prepare, review, and file all tax returns accurately and on time (corporate income tax, payroll tax, VAT, etc.).
  2. Ensure compliance with Afghan tax laws and regulations.
  3. Liaise with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant authorities regarding tax-related matters.

Tax Strategy and Planning:

  1. Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the organization’s tax liabilities.Provide guidance on the tax implications of operational and strategic decisions.
  2. Identify and mitigate tax risks.

Audit and Reporting:

  1. Manage tax audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to tax authorities.
  2. Prepare regular reports for senior management, summarizing tax-related risks and opportunities.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records.
  4. Advisory and Training:
  5. Advise management and staff on tax compliance requirements and updates.
  6. Conduct internal training on tax-related topics.
  7. Collaborate with external consultants and legal advisors when necessary.

Job Requirement

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum 5-7 years in tax management, preferably with experience in Afghan tax regulations and international tax compliance.     
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in tax software, accounting systems, and financial analysis tools.
  4. Languages: Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, with strong English communication skills.
  5. Personal Attributes:
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
