Job Description
The Grant and Risk Management Specialist is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing grants to support the Women Empowerment through Local Enterprise Development (WE-LEAD) project by Harakat-AICFO and funded by UNDP. This role involves preparing grant applications, coordinating with donors, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and managing grant-funded activities to achieve project objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Grant Identification and Acquisition:
- Keep an eye on grants utilization & movement, as to ensure the funds are being exploited as per UNDP Terms of Reference & project documents.
- Draft grant analytical reports according to UNDP ToR, including needs assessments, project descriptions, budgets, and evaluation plans.
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities that align with the project's goals and objectives.
Grant Management and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain relationships with donors, providing them with regular updates and reports on project progress and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including financial and programmatic reporting, and maintain accurate records of grant activities.
- Develop and manage grant budgets, ensuring that funds are allocated and spent in accordance with grant agreements.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks associated with project activities and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Implement and monitor risk management plans to ensure the project’s objectives are achieved without significant disruptions.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and provide recommendations for improvement.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans to assess the effectiveness and impact of grant-funded activities.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to donors, including financial reports, progress reports, and final reports.
Capacity Building:
- Provide training and support to project staff on grant management, compliance, and risk management.
Job Requirement
Professional experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in grant management and risk management in a development/emergency setting.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, development studies, and any other related discipline from an accredited institution
Language:
- Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required.
- Proficiency in oral and written English is required.

Working Conditions:
- Office environment with standard working hours.
- Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, regular site visits and workshops.
