Main fields of Welthungerhilfe intervention in Afghanistan are emergency relief, food and nutrition security, rural and regional development and water and sanitation.
Job Description
As part of the ‘Food Security in Intact Ecosystems’ project, the Program Assistant will coordinate their day-to-day tasks and responsibilities with the NRM, Agriculture and Environment Technical Advisor. The main responsibilities of the Program Assistant will be to liaise with the Partner Organization and support the development and translation of project training materials and best practice manuals which aim to strengthen natural resource management (NRM) professionals’ capacity to deliver context specific programming. Key topics will include NRM, climate sensitive agricultural practices, climate change mitigation and sustainable home-based food production. There is also opportunity to attend and support the field trainings and exchange visits.
The Program Assistant will ensure the full compliance of project operations with WHH rules, regulations and policies as well as monitoring and reporting the achievement of results to the line manager.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of the project activities.
- Assist and coordinate the preparation and review of training materials and best practice manuals related to: NRM, climate sensitive agricultural practices, climate change mitigation and sustainable home-based food production in English, Dari, and Pashto language.
- Conduct technical surveys with NGO professionals as required, and ensure the perspectives of women, men, and persons with disabilities, are meaningfully included in the project activities.
- Facilitate coordination, team work and information flow within the project team, and between the project team and Partner Organization.
- Contribute to the monthly activity progress reports.
- Contribute technically and to the translation of project related documents (eg. village profiles and catchment management plans).
- Contribute to project level lessons learned/best practices and contribute to WHH knowledge networks and communities of practice.
- Ensure full compliance of project operations with WHH rules, regulations, and policies (including anti-corruption policy), and monitoring the achievement of results.
- Undertake any other support tasks as requested by the Immediate Superior.
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, NRM or related field.
- This position would suit a new university graduate (female or male) with a passion for NRM and agriculture, strong computer and language skills (in English, Dari and Pashto for translation) and an interest to work in the NGO sector.
- Good computer skills with a very good command in MS Office, PowerPoint and knowledge in climate relevant software is an asset.
- A team player, good communicator and able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Verbal and written fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto language.
