We are embarking on an exciting new project aimed at delivering innovative solutions to our clients. As part of this endeavor, we are seeking five dynamic and proactive Regional Officers (ROs) to be based in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Kandahar, and Nangarhar. The ROs will be responsible for daily engagement with local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to ensure their needs are addressed and that technical solutions are designed to fit their capacities and the scope of the project.
Job Description
Objectives:
The primary objective of this role is to act as the liaison between local MSMEs and the Project Management Team (PMT) in Kabul. The Regional Officer will ensure that the needs of MSMEs are met through timely, accurate, and efficient implementation of the project, in coordination with our partners and based on the specific requirements of each region.
Key Responsibilities:
The Regional Officer will be responsible for the following:
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Meet with local MSMEs on a daily basis to understand their needs, challenges, and capacities.
- Facilitate discussions to ensure that technical solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each MSME.
- Maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including business owners, project sponsor, and donor agencies.
- Coordination and Implementation
- Work closely with the Project Management Team (PMT) in Kabul to ensure that project activities are implemented according to plan.
- Coordinate with partners and local teams to ensure that resources are effectively utilized.
- Monitor the progress of project activities in the region and provide regular updates to the PMT.
- Technical Solution Design
- Collaborate with the technical team to design solutions that are aligned with the capabilities and needs of MSMEs in the region.
- Ensure that all technical solutions are feasible within the project scope and can be sustained by the MSMEs post-implementation.
- Assist in the implementation of system tools like ERPs, Databases, Excel Based tools, Websites etc. The Regional officer will not be required to completely design these tools rather his/her job would be to ensure they are implemented properly through proper data collection and conduct troubleshooting where needed.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Document all meetings, decisions, and actions taken during the implementation process.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on the progress of the project, challenges faced, and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure that all data and information collected are accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, software and website developers, graphic designers, and other field staff.
- Communicate effectively in English; fluency in Dari and Pashto is highly desirable.
- Act as a key point of contact between the PMT and the regional MSMEs.
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Background: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Recognized certifications in design and tech solutions will be considered.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in field operations, stakeholder engagement, or project implementation or software development, coding roles
- Proven experience in tech solutions including ERPs, database, Excel based system and/or website, graphics development.
- Experience working with MSMEs or in the tech sector is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of local contexts and challenges in Afghanistan.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to design/customize and implement basic technical solutions in collaboration with experts.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English; knowledge of Dari and Pashto is a plus.
- Other: Ability to travel frequently within the assigned region and work in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting and Supervision:
The Regional Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and will work closely with the Project Management Team in Kabul and local partners.
