About Jhpiego: Urban Health Initiative The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Job Description

The English Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and teaching English language to
MLMCC staff. The role includes developing engaging and effective teaching materials, assessing
student progress, and contributing to a positive learning environment to ensure students' language
development and success.
Key Accountabilities:
Curriculum Development:
Develop and implement a comprehensive English language curriculum tailored to the needs of the
students.
Create lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessment tools that enhance students' English
language skills.
Instruction and Delivery:
Conduct English language classes, utilizing various teaching methods to engage students and
accommodate different learning styles.
- Provide clear explanations and demonstrations to ensure students understand complex
language concepts.

Assessment and Evaluation:
Assess students' language proficiency and progress through regular tests, quizzes, and
assignments.
Provide constructive feedback and support to students to help them improve their language skills.
Classroom Management:
- Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, managing student behavior and
encouraging active participation.
- Address and resolve any classroom issues or concerns effectively.
Student Support:
Offer additional support and resources to students as needed, including one-on-one tutoring or
extra practice.
Develop strategies to support students with diverse learning needs and challenges.

Collaboration:
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall educational experience and
support school-wide initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to stay updated on
teaching best practices.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare and maintain accurate records of students' progress and attendance.
Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding students' performance and any
relevant issues.
Competencies:
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of English language and teaching methodologies.

Adapts teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Manages classroom effectively and maintains a positive learning environment.
- Responds empathetically to students and addresses their individual learning needs.
- Organizes and plans lessons efficiently.
- Values teamwork and collaborates effectively with colleagues.


Job Requirement

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
2. Teaching certification or equivalent qualification.
3. Proven experience in teaching English, preferably in a similar educational setting.
4. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
5. Ability to work well with students, parents, and colleagues in a team environment.
