About TLO: The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Kandahar, Herat, Mazar, and Nangarhar and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.

Job Description

  • Working under the direct supervision of the program coordinator.
  • A good understanding of rule of law, informal justice and Jirgas practices and traditions in the communities
  • Preparing training materials and aids like charts and posters to conduct productive sessions
  • Explaining community-based customary law/traditional conflict resolution mechanisms to basic human rights
  • Provide technical advice and mentoring on basic Islamic - human rights, and practice of informal justice system to Access to Justice Network
  • Prepare training reports on the quality and effectiveness of the trainings based on the pre/post tests
  • Preparing need list, attendance sheet and any other related documents.
  • Perform any additional tasks as requested by the Supervisor.

Job Requirement

  • Advanced University/University degree or equivalent in political sciences, international relations, or law, preferably with specialization in human rights/legal assistance
  • Strong training & facilitation skills
  • Experience writing reports in English and National Languages
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in delivering training preferably on access to justice or informal justice system
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented system, deal effectively with professional staff.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
