Job Description
Job summary:
The Communication Officer plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and impact of CARE Afghanistan by capturing and disseminating compelling success stories through high-quality visual and written content. This position involves not only the creation of engaging photos and videos, but also the development of narratively rich written materials that effectively demonstrate the organization’s achievements and influence in the community.
Key functions:
- Visual Content Creation: Capture high-quality photographs and video clips that authentically showcase the organization’s initiatives and successes.
- Story Development: Conduct interviews and undertake field visits to curate compelling success stories and case studies that reflect the organization’s work and its impact on the community.
- Video Production: Edit and produce professional-quality videos tailored for various communication platforms, including social media, websites, and presentations, aimed at enhancing outreach and engagement.
- Digital Asset Management: Organize and maintain a comprehensive digital archive of all photographic and video content to ensure easy access and efficient management.
- Collaborative Communication: Work closely with the communications team to ensure that all produced content aligns with the organization’s messaging and branding strategies, maintaining consistency across all channels.
- Event Documentation: Assist in the planning and documentation of events and promotional activities to capture key moments and facilitate comprehensive reporting.
- Impact Expression through Documentary: Support the development of documentaries that eloquently express the project’s impact and narrative.
- Promotional Material Development: Prepare promotional materials such as brochures, banners, and posters to effectively communicate the organization’s message and achievements.
KEY RELATIONS
- Internal Collaboration:
- Technical Reporting Line: Media and Communication Advisor
- Administrative Reporting Line: Project Manager
- Field Engagement:
Duties will primarily be based in the Balkh sub-office, with travel required to areas including, but not limited to Chemtal, Balkh, Dehaddi, and Charbolak.

- Demonstrated proficiency in photo and video editing software, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, to produce polished and professional materials.
- Strong storytelling abilities that engage audiences and effectively articulate the organization’s mission and impact.
- Capacity to operate in challenging environments and travel as necessary to achieve project objectives.
- Consistent production of high-quality promotional materials that enhance the organization’s outreach efforts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and effective interactions with diverse stakeholders.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Social Science or any other related field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in photography, videography, and content creation, demonstrating a strong portfolio of work.
- Language Skills: Fluency in written and spoken Dari, Pashto, and English, enabling effective communication across diverse linguistic groups.
