About AWSDC: The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) is a national non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been relentlessly working towards the promotion and protection of women's rights in Afghanistan since its inception in 1999. With its key thematic focus areas of livelihoods, WASH, child/women protection, social cohesion, and humanitarian response, AWSDC has made a remarkable impact across several provinces of the country. The organization has provided humanitarian assistance to almost 65,000 COVID-19-affected individuals within its geographical areas since the onset of the pandemic. AWSDC is also a crucial humanitarian actor in Afghanistan, providing child/women protection, WASH and emergency shelter, and non-food items to vulnerable Afghan communities across the country. In response to the current humanitarian crisis, AWSDC is scaled up its interventions in serving more people by providing life-saving assistance, protection, Livelihoods, WASH, and food/non-food items. The aligned strategic priorities will enable our target groups in addressing their acute deficits of humanitarian response, early recovery through the provision of Emergency Response (Protection, WASH, Food/NFIs) and early recovery and development interventions (Protection Services, WASH, Livelihoods). AWSDC is in the process to recruit Women Protection Project Manager to support the project team in the implementation of Women Protection project in Herat Province.
Job Description
The position holder (Protection Manager) will be responsible for a team of 6 Social Organizers, 2 Psychosocial Support Counsellors, and 3 community center guards. The key responsibility will include to plan, implement and support the project team in the implementation of the planned activities under Women Protection in Herat. The staff will be placed in the women community center. Likewise, the project manager to supervise the project activities in Jebrail and Injil district to track community awareness, community dialogues conducted by the project social organizers
Job Responsibilities
- Project planning and coordination
- Coordinate the project activities in the target Province with stakeholders, Afghanistan protection clusters, GBV sub-cluster, child protection sub-cluster, UNHCR, and other protection actors.
- Act as access focal point with DfA while coordinating project activities, seeking project activities approval and interaction with the DfA.
- Prepare weekly and monthly plans in compliance with the project work plan, outputs activities and targets and sharing them with the project team for the implementation
- Ensure staff safety and security and safe access to the project sites
- Participation in field level coordination meeting called by project donor and DFA
- Project Implementation
- Ensure that each team member understand the assigned role and responsibility and ensure their full contribution in achieving the project targets
- Provide coaching, mentorship to project team ensuring they fully understand the scope of the project
- Work on inter-agency referral pathway to ensure the cases are timely referred to service providers.
- Organize trainings on the protection core principles and referral pathways to UNHCR Protection and Livelihood partners
- Ensure and facilitate timely and confidential referrals to appropriate services based on the GBV SC referral pathway SOPs and referral card Collect and consolidate the number of referrals made by UNHCR partners who undergone the trainings.
- Supervise awareness raising/information sessions capitalizing on the existing UNHCR/partner interventions (groups of beneficiaries for livelihood program, PSS program, CBPM etc.)
- Conduct Safety Audits using KIIs and FGDs twice in a year
- Oversight, timely supply and supervision of the community through identifying the priority areas for empowerment/recreational/ educational activity and propose activities at Women Community Center
- Ensure that minimum one full scale training and one refresher training on PSEA is conducted for the project staff
03. Project Reporting
- Analyze and submit safety auditing key findings and recommendation with project donor
- Prepare weekly, monthly project narrative and submission to project donor at field level
- Draft quarterly and final narrative reports for the donor and sharing the draft with the program development specialist.
03. Project Oversight and Team Management
- Ensure project supervision and monitoring of the activities planned vs actual and that appropriate correction measure taken in joint consultation of the program development specialist
- Support project team in the development and proper using the tools, templates for systematic tracking of the project activities both for community center activities as well as for outreach project activities.
- Conduct regular project overview with the active participation of the program staff as well as finance staff ensuring that program and financial budget match each other.
- Conduct staff performance appraisal in joint collaboration of provincial admin/Finance Officer
- Ensure that AWSDC PSEA policy, Information Sharing Policy, Complaint/Feedback Response Mechanism including minimum admin/finance, logistics, operation, program standards are applied during the project cycle.
- Any other tasks assigned by the project Program Development Specialist/Program Director.
Job Requirement
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management in the area of Women Protection, preferably experience in protection intervention for women and girls, in the field and in complex environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervising the team that consists of social worker/community mobilisers.
- Experience in social work, case management and/or community engagement.
- Excellent knowledge on GBV principles and inter-agency guidelines and tools
- Excellent understanding of the local contexts, familiar with both local languages ( Dari and Pashto) and skills in stakeholder management
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Proven experience in report writing in English.
- Solid Computer skills and competency in word, Excel as a minimum
