Job Description

Provide advice and support to the Project Team to ensure that all project activities are implemented with gender sensitive and protection-integrated approaches, with the needs of women, girls, boys and men considered.

Promote confidence building and conflict resolution among populations of concern, authorities, and host communities.

Provide legal advice and guidance on protection issues to internal and external interlocutors.

Support Gender and Protection Manager in preparing training materials and providing trainings for project staff on gender and protection mainstreaming.

Build up a collaborative network of peers, government agencies and local NGOs engaged in issues related to gender/protection and coordinate and collaborate on research, programming and advocacy.

Ensure close interaction with the M&E team to ensure that M&E tools and practices are gender sensitive, and gender segregated indicators are development and measured. 

Identify protection gaps and concerns facing by the population; in particular women and children of the affected communities and share the information with central office.

Contribute to the Protection team's information management component which provide disaggregated data on populations of concern and their problems; researches, collects and disseminates relevant protection information and good practices to enhance protection delivery and provide technical advice if necessary;

Prepare training materials and provide training for project staff on gender and protection mainstreaming. 

Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and partners to discuss implementation issues provide solutions recommendations and/or to alert appropriate officials and stakeholders for higher-level interventions and/or decisions.

leading activities that support gender equality, enhance protection of community members and raise their awareness on key GBV and protection topics. 

Collaborate with other project staff to ensure referrals to other services such as psychosocial support Mental health and education/livelihoods interventions.

Follow up the referrals with relevant GBV/child protection actors in order to ensure the target communities protection rights.

Attend and participate in trainings identified/ organized by your supervisor.

Provide advice, guidance and follow-up in relation to protection and gender aspects of the Beneficiary Feedback Mechanism and Targeting 

Prepare tools and set up a system allowing regular monitoring and reporting on the project related gender and protection issues.

Job Requirement

Bachelor degree in Social Science, Economics, or relevant field is required.

Minimum 3 years of experience in protection /Gender officer Positions Preferably in Humanitarian NGOs.

knowledge of gender and protection in humanitarian and resilience settings, including gender-based violence, humanitarian policy issues.

Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).

Excellent English and Arabic languages (writing and speaking) are required.

Good reporting skills.

Fluent in written and verbal English and Arabic is required.
