The head office of the organization is located in Kabul, Afghanistan, and delivers humanitarian services in the sectors of Livelihood, Good Governance, WASH, and Emergency through its four regional offices in Mazar, Herat, Jalalabad, and the central zone in a decentralized manner.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Training the farmers in new agriculture technology and agronomy techniques and methods to improve productivity in the area. The training includes land preparation, irrigation-related trainings, training on seed cultivation, chemical and organic (manure) fertilizer application trainings, and integrated pest management.
- Design training manuals presentations and Materials required for the trainings.
- Provide technical support inputs and agricultural extension services to farmers and farmers groups and the production handling of high-value agricultural and agronomy commodities.
- Collecting data on the trainings and impacts of the training in the targeted area.
- Ensure close communication and coordination with project team district authorities and community elders through regular visits participation in meetings organizing joint field visits and submission of reports.
- Responsible for administrative tasks related to training.
- Support farmers through field visits and trainings.
- Provide recommendations to farmers on improving soil fertility irrigated agronomic measures such as raised-bed furrow irrigation fertilizers application rates and methods and water saving for increasing crop production.
- Any other duties assigned by the project manager
Job Requirement
- Minimum of 2-3 years of working in international/national NGOs in a similar position
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture and/ Horticulture
- Excellent command of local languages.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in wheat cultivation & vegetable cultivation techniques, including organic and sustainable practices.
- Previous experience in conducting training sessions and capacity-building activities related to agriculture.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively deliver training content and engage with diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with local climatic conditions, gardening challenges, and suitable vegetable varieties for the target location.
- availability to travel to the training locations
