About Organization for Sustainable Aid in Afghanistan - OSAA: Organization for Sustainable Aid in Afghanistan (OSAA) is a non-governmental, non-profit, women-led organization with no dependence on any political group or party and is a development and humanitarian organization. OSAA was officially registered with the Afghan Ministry of Economy as a national NGO in 2015, aiming to foster the economic and social development of society, in particular women in Afghanistan. OSAA is committed to adopting a sustainable approach to development with long-term positive impacts on society. The organization’s core founders and board of directors consist of highly educated, experienced, and goal-oriented women and men who endeavor to use their knowledge and experience to empower women and young girls through vocational training, social capacity building, education, employment services, and the development of handicrafts programs in Afghanistan.
Job Description
The Program Officer will work closely with the Program Manager to support the implementation and development of OSAA's programs and projects. The primary responsibilities will include fundraising, identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, managing reporting to various donors, and contributing to the overall program design and strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising and Donor Relations:
- Research and identify potential funding sources, including institutional donors, UN agencies, I/NGOs.
- Prepare high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and other fundraising materials to secure new funding.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing donors and ensure timely and comprehensive reporting as per their requirements.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to diversify OSAA's funding sources and expand the organization's donor portfolio.
- Project Management and Reporting:
- Assist the Program Manager in the overall planning, implementation, and monitoring of OSAA's projects.
- Collect, analyze, and compile data for donor reports, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met.
- Coordinate with project teams to gather necessary information and documentation for reporting purposes.
- Identify and address any issues or challenges that arise during project implementation, and recommend solutions to the Program Manager.
- Program Development and Innovation:
- Contribute to the development of new program initiatives based on the evolving needs of the target communities.
- Provide input on program design, budgeting, and resource allocation to enhance the impact and sustainability of OSAA's interventions.
- Stay informed about best practices, trends, and innovations in the humanitarian and development sectors, and propose ideas for program improvements.
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of programs to measure their effectiveness and inform future planning.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as international development, nonprofit management, economics or public administration.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in program management, fundraising, or donor relations in I/NGOs.
- Proven track record in securing funding from institutional donors, foundations, and private organizations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality proposals and reports.
- Proficient in data analysis and project management tools.
- Knowledge of the humanitarian and development context in Afghanistan, particularly in the Herat region.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and Dari/Pashto is required.
