Job Description

Project Background

IMC, under Supporting Transformation for Afghanistan’s Recovery (STAR) project provides WASH assistance such as; the establishment of communal water supply systems in the target communities, the establishment of water supply systems and other WASH facilities such as latrines and handwashing facilities in health facilities and schools, provision of hygiene promotion trainings to health facilities’ and schools’ staff, household and community-level hygiene promotion awareness and conducting community clean-up campaigns in the target communities of Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.

Job Purpose

To collect the data and assist the communities with their needs and fill the humanitarian gaps related to the WASH sector; latrines and handwashing facilities in health facilities and schools, provision of hygiene promotion trainings to health facilities’ and schools’ staff, household and community-level hygiene promotion awareness and conducting community clean-up campaigns in the target communities of Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Active Participation in survey Training
  2. Conducting Field visits to the survey-targeted areas in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.
  3. Conducting endline KAP survey with local communities and stakeholders by performing Interview, KIIs and Focus group discussion.
  4. Participation in daily debrief meetings.
  5. Ensuring the quality of data at optimal level.
  6. Continuously report the results to the area/survey supervisor. 
  7. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of the survey participants.
  8. Any other relevant duty assigned by the survey supervisor.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

Qualifications

Essential

  • High school graduate. Bachelor’s degree will be given preference.

Desirable

Past experience in WASH sector

Experience

  • Proven experience in qualitative/quantitative surveys within conducting Interviews, KIIs and Focus group discussions (FGDs).
  • Preference will be given to locals of duty station

Competency

  • Able to travel to remote areas.
  • Comfortable with the discussion about Health, Nutrition, Protection and WASH and other relevant issues
  • Fluent in Pashto and Dari, speaking English is preferred.
  • Familiar with Computer skill and using tablets for data entry.
