About Company

About International Assistance Mission (IAM): The International Assistance Mission (IAM) serves the people of Afghanistan through capacity building in the sectors of Health, Education and Economic Development. IAM in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health implements Community Based Mental Health Program in Herat and Ghor provinces and recently got engaged in relief response activities. The program aims to change the attitudes, behaviors and relationships of the community around mental health and wider, through the media, to promote successes. Working with influential people to advocate for changes in policy and resourcing for community mental health from the Government of Afghanistan for sustainable changes. This program addresses some of the social determinants of mental health problems and the barriers to full inclusion for people with psychosocial disability in Afghanistan.

Job Description

Key responsibilities and tasks:

  1. Identification, follow up and referrals.
  • Provide psychosocial and emotional support to children and families throughout the case management process.
  • Case Management for Individual Children and their Families to those children who have experienced or are at risk of violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Assessment, case planning, implementation of the case plan, follow-up and review case closure.
  • Conduct safe referrals to essential services as appropriate, and follow-up to ensure services provided were responsive to the needs identified within the assessment.
  • Support implementation of the Mental Health and Psychosocial support program including supervision of CFSs (Child friendly space) and CFJs (Child friendly justice ).
  • provide Phycological First Aid (PFA) to the victims and witnesses of critical emergencies and referral of critical cases of mental health disorders for specialized care.
  •  Support mitigation, prevention, and response to GBV cases including awareness-raising and victim response.
  • Collaborate with other child protection stakeholders working in the centers and advocate for vulnerable children.
  • Assist children in need of reunification and reintegration with their families.
  • Conduct awareness raising programs for children and juveniles on mental health disorders, PSEA, GBV and wellbeing.
  • Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the CFS, that all children feel comfortable, safe, and respected and all children feel included, and no child is discriminated against.
  1. Data Collection and Reporting
  • Provide Regular weekly and monthly reports to project supervisors.
  • Keep the record of cases and follow-up cases referred for specialized cares.
  • Help and supports the project staff in terms of collecting the data.

 

Job Requirement

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor in psychology or related fields.
  • Short-term training on mental health and child protection will be considered as added value to the qualification

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in child projection, social work, mental health and any related field.
  • Experience in community-based activities will be an added value.

Skills:

  • High communication skills
  • Computer skills (specifically office programs)
