About Company
About International Assistance Mission (IAM): The International Assistance Mission (IAM) serves the people of Afghanistan through capacity building in the sectors of Health, Education and Economic Development. IAM in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health implements Community Based Mental Health Program in Herat and Ghor provinces and recently got engaged in relief response activities. The program aims to change the attitudes, behaviors and relationships of the community around mental health and wider, through the media, to promote successes. Working with influential people to advocate for changes in policy and resourcing for community mental health from the Government of Afghanistan for sustainable changes. This program addresses some of the social determinants of mental health problems and the barriers to full inclusion for people with psychosocial disability in Afghanistan.
Job Description
Key responsibilities and tasks:
The order of items on the following list indicated the relative priority within each area:
- Work and act by IAM Core Values and professional code of practice based on evidence-based medicine.
- Interview all the patient’s requesting treatment and decide whether they should be seen by one of the doctors or counsellors.
- Fill in interview form and personal information of patient file
- Register patients admitted for treatment, counseling, mental health education, or group activities.
- Explain to patients the procedures at the clinicpieces of the training center (including the different pieces of training with students going on if necessary).
- Monitor and report any agitated or even aggressive behavior.
- Enter statistical patient data into the computer.
- Responsible for preparing a monthly report.
- Participate in study cases, training, monthly meetings, or any other project meetings when needed.
- Seek actively individual supervision by the supervisor.
Job Requirement
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduated Psychologist and or any other related field
Experience:
- Minimum 1 years of experience national or international NGOs.
Skills:
- High communication skills
- Computer skills (specifically office programs)
Personal:
- Willing to live and work by the IAM Core Values
- Concern for the well-being of the mentally ill
- Concern for the well-being of the project staff
- High motivation to develop quality mental health care in Afghanistan.
- Enjoys teamwork and mentoring of Afghan team leaders.
- Willing to take responsibility for the project.
- Willing to learn further new skills.
- Able to travel to the communities.
