Job Description

General Summary: We are seeking a skilled and passionate Food Technologist to join our team for the Bread+ and HEB School Feeding Project. As a Food Technologist, he will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and nutritional value of the meals provided to students. His expertise in food science, product development, and quality assurance will contribute to the success of the project.      

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ingredient Sourcing and Evaluation: Source and evaluate food ingredients to ensure their safety, quality, and suitability for the project. Collaborate with suppliers to obtain the best ingredients while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance programs to monitor and evaluate food safety and quality throughout the supply chain. Conduct regular inspections, audits, and testing form wheelhouses to bakeries for ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Develop and enforce strict food safety and hygiene protocols across all stages of food preparation and distribution. Train and educate staff on proper food handling practices and maintain a safe and sanitary working environment.
  • Nutritional Analysis: Conduct nutritional analysis of recipes and meals to ensure they meet the required nutritional standards. Provide guidance on ingredient substitutions and modifications to improve the nutritional profile of the meals.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all food-related activities, including recipe formulations, ingredient specifications, quality control tests, and compliance documentation. Prepare reports on food safety, quality, and nutritional aspects of the project.

Job Requirement

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience as a Food Technologist or in a similar role, preferably in the foodservice industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of food science, product development, and quality assurance principles.
  4. Familiarity with food safety regulations and HACCP principles.
  5. Excellent sensory evaluation and analytical skills.
  6. Proficiency in using food analysis software and tools.
  7. Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  8. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  9. Passion for nutrition, food quality, and community development.
  10. English oral and written essential.
