Job Description
Job Summary:
Agricultural trainer is responsible to provide technical support inputs and agricultural extension services to farmers, cooperatives for the production handling of high value agricultural and agronomy commodities. Moreover, Agricultural Trainer will work closely with project manager for successful implementation of wheat value chain project in Dand and Daman districts.
Responsibilities of the Job:
- Training the farmers in new agriculture technology and agronomy techniques and methods to improve productivity in the area. The training includes the following subjects:
- Land preparation trainings
- Irrigation related trainings
- Trainings on seed cultivation methods
- Chemical and organic (manure) fertilizer application trainings
- Integrated pest management trainings.
- Design training manuals presentations and Materials required for the trainings;
- Provide technical support inputs and agricultural extension services to farmers and farmers groups and cooperatives for the production handling of high value agricultural and agronomy commodities.
- Collecting data on the trainings and impacts of the training in the targeted area.
- Ensure close communication and coordination with project team district authorities and community elders through regular visits participation in meeting organize joint field visits and submission of reports.
- Responsible for administrative tasks related to training
- Support farmers through field visits and trainings.
- Provide recommendations to farmers on improving soil fertility irrigated agronomic measures such as raised-bed furrow irrigation fertilizers application rates and methods and water saving for increasing crop production;
- Any other duties assigned by project manager
Job Requirement
- Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Bachelor in Agronomy will be preferred.
- At least 3 years of progressive work experience in the similar roles in the field of Agronomy, Wheat value chain, agricultural extension and marketing projects with INGO or Afghan NGOs.
- Excellent command on local languages plus English;
- Good in teaching delivery methods and familiarity
- Experience in organizing and delivery of agricultural trainings, marketing and business linkages and delivery of field level extension activities.
- Experience in developing agriculture/agronomy-based training curricula, value chain, marketing and business development.
- Understanding on research and survey.
