Job Description
Job Purpose :
The Early Childhood Educator is directly responsible for taking care of the children who accompany their mothers to the MCHC by engaging them in recreational activities in the safe environment of the child friendly corner. This position is part of the holistic approach of services provided in the MCHC. Under the supervision of the MCHC In Charge, the Early Childhood Educator will work in close collaboration with the MCHC team members including the Midwife, Psychosocial Counselors, Social Mobilizer, and Female Youth Educator.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensure that the child friendly corner is a safe environment for children.
- Develop and implement activities that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Engage children in recreational activities (storytelling, play, creativity through art, crafting, painting, and drawing) and create a secure environment that promotes the overall well-being of children.
- Plan innovative and age-appropriate ways of keeping children actively engaged through fun and play activities.
- Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children.
- Ensure a secure and supportive atmosphere for mothers, allowing them to participate and engage in PSS activities without concerns about their young children.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for children to thrive and ensure the safety of the children within the designated place.
- Regularly inspect and address any potential safety hazards for young children in the surroundings and collaborate with relevant personnel to address safety and cleanliness concerns promptly.
- Regularly communicate with mothers to address any specific concerns or needs of their young children.
- Provide emotional support to children and mothers within the MCHC.
- Collaborate with other team members to enhance the overall effectiveness of the MCHC.
