About AWSDC-Afghan Women Skills Development Center: The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) is a national non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been relentlessly working towards the promotion and protection of women's rights in Afghanistan since its inception in 1999. With its key thematic focus areas of livelihoods, WASH, child/women protection, social cohesion, and humanitarian response, AWSDC has made a remarkable impact across several provinces of the country. The organization has provided humanitarian assistance to almost 65,000 COVID-19-affected individuals within its geographical areas since the onset of the pandemic. AWSDC is also a crucial humanitarian actor in Afghanistan, providing child/women protection, WASH and emergency shelter, and non-food items to vulnerable Afghan communities across the country. In response to the current humanitarian crisis, AWSDC is scaled up its interventions in serving more people by providing life-saving assistance, protection, Livelihoods, WASH, and food/non-food items. The aligned strategic priorities will enable our target groups in addressing their acute deficits of humanitarian response, early recovery through the provision of Emergency Response (Protection, WASH, Food/NFIs) and early recovery and development interventions (Protection Services, WASH, Livelihoods). AWSDC is in the process of recruiting a competent Child Protection Manager to support the project team in the implementation of the Child protection project in Bamyan province.
Job Description
The focus of the project is to establish and run Child-Friendly Space (CFS), support children through provision of PSS counselling, establish and strengthen Community Based Child Protection Networks (CBCPANs), child case management, develop the capacity of staff as well as other service providers on child protection core principle, conduct dialogue sessions with community leaders including parents on child protection and the type of services provided by AWSDC under the project.
Position Summary:
The position holder (Child Protection Manager) will be responsible for a team of 4 PSS Animators, 4 Case Workers and 2 social organizers with the key responsibility to plan, implement, and support the project team in the implementation of the planned activities under Child Protection in Bamyan Province. The staff will be placed in the AWSDC Provincial office in Bamyan city with frequent travel to the project site.
Job Requirement
- Coordinate the project activities in the target Province with stakeholders including line departments of de-facto authorities, Afghanistan protection clusters, Child Protection AOR, Project Donor, and other protection actors.
- Participation in the Child Protection Cluster meetings at regional regional level.
- Support the project team in the project daily, weekly, monthly plan in the light of project approved implementation plan, project output indicators in achieving the project targets
- Work on inter-agency referral pathway to ensure the cases are timely referred to service providers.
- Take regular field visits on program quality and provide recommendations and feedback on field team performance.
- Establishment of community and school-based groups such as CBCPN, student council
- Establish child friendly spaces in schools and supervise activities such as provision of PSS and other supporting services to children
- Ensure that the planned school-based psychosocial support to children in schools are timely planned, implemented and supported in join coordination with PSS Animators
- Ensure that community awareness on child rights/protection issues are conducted with the support of Social workers.
- Support the case workers in the identification of child case, its follow according to the agreed protocols
- Ensure proper planning, implementation and capacity development of donor partners working in the Bamyan Province on Child Protection Core Principles.
- To conduct Child Protection training to CBCPNs, Project staff, teachers etc
- Ensure active participation in the CBCPNs monthly meetings
- Supervision of community awareness on Child Protection issues
- Referral of children (15-17 years old children) to vocational/ apprenticeship opportunities based on their interest and abilities.
- Organize monthly meeting with finance for project financial overview
- Prepare weekly, monthly project reports and submission to project donor
- Draft Project quarterly, half year and year end project narrative reports and submission to program development specialist for review and submission to donor.
- Prepare proper recording and file management system for the team to systematically record their project progress such as participants list, data base for CFS children, case management and CBCPN
- Develop progress reports of the project and after quality checking submission to donor.
- Any other tasks assigned by the project Program Development Specialist/Program Director.
Required Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management in the area of Protection, preferably experience in Child protection intervention in the field and in complex environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervising the team that consists of social worker/community mobilisers, PSS and Case Workers.
- Experience in social work, case management and/or community engagement.
- Excellent knowledge on Child Rights and Child Protection as per CP AoR
- Excellent understanding of the local contexts, familiar with both local languages ( Dari and Pashto) and skills in stakeholder management
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Project Report Writing skills in English
- Solid Computer skills and competency in word, Excel as a minimum
