About Afghan Amputee Bicyclists for Rehabilitation And Recreation (AABRAR): About Afghan Amputee Bicyclists for Rehabilitation And Recreation (AABRAR): AABRAR is a local Afghan non-government organization concerned with the rehabilitation and socioeconomic integration of disabled people and other vulnerable groups into the community. Founded in 1992, AABRAR began a bicycle-training program for amputees to improve mobility and increase their independence, enabling them to travel to and from work, and save on transportations costs. Since then, AABRAR has expanded its activities to offer a range of services to vulnerable people, designing special programs for women and children to address their needs. Programs include physiotherapy and health care, bicycle training, vocational trainings, numeracy and literacy classes, mine awareness, Education, health education, Livelihood, WASH and various sporting activities. AABRAR also works in the area of social development, helping to raise awareness of the rights of disabled people within Afghanistan and dispel negative attitudes towards disability. AABRAR has widened its beneficiary classification to include other vulnerable groups such as widows, orphans, unemployed people, youth, ex-combatants, and street children, so as to reach those people most in need of assistance.
Job Description
Objectives of this intervention include the development of Midwifery Master Trainers from the currently practicing Midwifery Supervisors. Through a two-pronged approach, 350 Midwife Supervisors will be strengthened to the level of Master Trainer: Participants will obtain the required knowledge and skills from tailor-made video lessons in three modules covering clinical, professional and technical topics critical for this expanded role; weekly video lessons will be supplemented by individual (1:1) coaching mentoring support to enable Supervisors to embed new knowledge and skills into their supervision practices, strengthen their leadership abilities, and continuously develop them professionally as Master Trainers of practicing Midwives. The provision of specially prepared content ensures that Supervisor Midwives have access to valuable resources at their convenience and coaching assures the learning has been effective and its applicability to their training responsibilities.
The Regional Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the successful implementation of the Midwifer Development to Master Trainers within their designated region. This position requires a dynamic and experienced professional capable of managing diverse activities related to staff recruitment, orientation, market survey, training program development, project coordination, and monitoring and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Staff Recruitment:
- Oversee the recruitment process within the region, ensuring adherence to the project's staffing plan.
- Collaborate with HR to select qualified candidates and facilitate orientation sessions.
- Orientation to Project Staff:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive regional orientation program for new project staff.
- Facilitate orientation sessions to introduce project objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the orientation program, making adjustments as needed.
- Market Survey and Field Assessment:
- Coordinate and oversee the market survey and field assessment activities in the region.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify key stakeholders for interviews and surveys.
- Ensure the collection of relevant data for the development of training programs.
- Development of Video Lessons:
- Supervise the development, localization, and finalization of video lessons and training materials.
- Organize and participate in piloting sessions, gathering feedback for fine-tuning.
- Ensure the cultural appropriateness and accuracy of the video lessons in local languages.
- Six Months of Master Trainer Development:
- Oversee the implementation of the 6-month Master Trainer Development program for Supervising Midwives in the region.
- Coordinate with coaches/mentors to ensure personalized guidance and feedback during 1:1 sessions.
- Monitor the practical application of knowledge and address specific challenges faced by Supervisor Midwives.
- Project Coordination and Information Sharing:
- Establish and maintain communication channels with MOPH/DOPH, Public Health Hospitals, community elders, and other stakeholders in the region.
- Facilitate MOU agreements with MOPH and ensure quarterly steering group meetings are conducted.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and regional stakeholders.
- Monitoring and Evaluation, MIS, and Reporting:
- Develop and implement a regional-specific M&E plan in alignment with the overall project plan.
- Oversee the establishment of a Management Information System (MIS) for efficient data management.
- Ensure timely submission of monthly activity monitoring and progress reports.
- Collaborate on the preparation of project completion/final report.
