Program/Department Summary The Mercy Corps Finance Department is responsible for all financial functions in Afghanistan, including accounting, payments and banking, payroll, budgeting, financial reporting, Tax, and grant financial management and compliance. The Mercy Corps Finance Department ensures compliance with donor regulations as well as Mercy Corps’ internal policies and procedures. In its role as a support to the Program Department, the Finance Department provides timely reports and assistance to the Country Director and the Program team to ensure that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively. Success Summary Has ability to support programmatic objectives with timely and meaningful financial information is essential. A demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary. An impeccable professional standard of finance and procurement ethics as well as the willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential. Job Description

[GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The livestock support trainers will report to the Project Manager. The post requires knowledge of the village/communities’ dynamics in target districts of Herat province. He will have to work closely with the team of cash officers to ensure that the training is well-managed and delivered to the right participant.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implement the AHF livestock support training strategy in a manner that enhances the capacity of household farmers enabling them develop income generation for long term survival.
  2. Coordinate the training sessions with community members at Gulran, Obe and Cheshte Sharif districts.  
  3. Oversee and perform the watering, feeding and care of livestock.
  4. Respond to emergency situations involving livestock.
  5. Technical inputs in planning, organizing, and implementing operational plans of livestock activities with concerned communities, line agencies and stakeholders.
  6. Facilitate and participate in designing good livestock management practices, and extension methodologies and modalities.
  7. Develop sustainable methodologies and techniques for assisting farmers with planning and execution of livestock management, directed at improving rural livelihood.
  8. Facilitate the process of organizing farmer’s tool kits and distribution.
  9. Train focused farmers on livestock and poultry tools and techniques through FFS methodology.
  10. Ensure quality assurance of activities and inputs.
  11. Compile reports, document/record Information, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic (in soft, hard, and audio visual) form.
  12. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
