About War Child: War Child flagship Afghanistan program advances social impact in the lives of vulnerable children, women and their families through its Justice, Education and Opportunity programs with child protection and gender across all its programs. The Afghanistan Country Program is currently undergoing an exciting expansion with newly secured long-term funding for programs in eight provinces Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kundoz, Takhar, Logar and Badakhshan, and will expand its program to other new provinces.
Job Description
Community Mobilizer/ Social Worker is responsible for community mobilization, community coordination, selection and registration of youths VT learning skills, setting up VT centers, make sure the Multipurpose Centers are equipped with VT equipment and materials on regular and timely manner. H/she will provide technical and management support to youths on the program to develop and implement community-based sustainable programs.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Provide support in the selection of project implementation sites and beneficiaries (youths) in PDs and host communities.
- Responsible for all aspects of project implementation at the community level
- S/he will be responsible for the identification and registration of youths in multipurpose youth centers
- Identification of marketable vocations based on labor/market survey and selection of vocational training approaches such apprenticeship, life skills or etc.
- Mobilize communities and coordinate with respective communities and relevant stakeholders (government department, INGOs etc) on regular bases
- Establish Multipurpose Youth Centers in project locations
- Select the beneficiaries (Youths) in project locations
- Ensure that materials & equipment’s and supply to all the Multipurpose Youths Centers points are delivered in a timely manner
- Regular monitoring and supervision of day-to-day project activities in MYC
- To maintain close cooperation with the targeted local communities and to be able to mobilize these to take active part in delivering livelihoods and empowerment services of project activities
- Provide support to and observe trainers if needed
- The CMs should be also helping rest of the staff on the marketing and business development support to the beneficiaries – They should coordinate with communities for organizing trade fares and other marketing and BDS related activities
- Prepare progress report on trainees’ progress on regular bases
- Regularly check trainees’ attendance
- Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports and submit to supervisor
- Report to Project Manager if needed or MEAL department of WC
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor that are within the general scope of the described responsibilities or of project
Job Requirement
Academic Background and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration (BBA) Commerce (B. Com) Economics or development studies
- Training in TEVET
- 3–4-year relevant experience in vocational training marketing and livelihoods implementation
- Excellent Dari Pashto and English language skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computer office applications and email.
Skills:
- Dari or Pashtu is mandatory
- Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
- Good Communication and interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge of community development especially working with women,
- Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines
- Good reporting skills including report compilation, analysis and presentation
- Culture sensitive and respect for local norms
- Confidentiality and privacy
