About War Child: War Child flagship Afghanistan program advances social impact in the lives of vulnerable children, women and their families through its Justice, Education and Opportunity programs with child protection and gender across all its programs. The Afghanistan Country Program is currently undergoing an exciting expansion with newly secured long-term funding for programs in eight provinces Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kundoz, Takhar, Logar and Badakhshan, and will expand its program to other new provinces.
Job Description
Position summary:
Working under the supervision of the MCHC In-charge, in collaboration with the Midwife and other MCHC staff, develop recreational and basic education daily plan for safe child friendly corner by using child friendly methods. Supervise and provide children with recreational (e.g. free and organized play, sports, traditional and modern games, etc.) and educational (non-formal educational activities, pre-school, drawing/painting, etc.) activities in a safe child Conduct recreational and basic educational session for the children coming to MCHC.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop recreational and basic education daily plan for child friendly corner.
- Supervise and provide children with age-appropriate activities, recreational (e.g. free and organized play, sports, traditional and modern games, etc.) and educational (non-formal educational activities, pre-school, drawing/painting, etc.) activities in a safe child friendly corner
- Ensure a variety of structured games and activities within the Safe Child Friendly Corner (SCFC), catering to the needs and interest of children of different ages, genders and abilities.
- Plan activities based on age of the beneficiaries (e.g. morning activities should be conducted for pre-school children aged 3 to 10 in an age appropriate and gender sensitive manner).
- Use storytelling, drawing, and games as a means of providing psychosocial support, teaching children about the culture, child rights and child protection in a respectful manner
- Ensure that the SCFC is colorful and neat, clean, safe and displays child protection messaging in a way children can understand
- Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the SCFC
- Ensure that children’s participation is considered in the development of the CFS and its activities
- Ensure that children will be safe going to and from the SCFC
- Conduct a visual assessment of the children every day to check for possible protection concerns and/or identify children who are malnourished, or who have health or psychosocial risks. When necessary, refer to case workers or report to supervisor
- Take accurate attendance every day
- Ensure that children have regular breaks so they can drink water and go to the toilet
- Attend scheduled staff meetings
- Be a positive role model and demonstrate conflict-solving behaviour
- Any other tasks assigned by her supervisor.
Job Requirement
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines (Education, Social Work, Sociology or Psychology) and related backgrounds will be preferred.
- Having diploma or certificate in child are
- Minimum 1 years’ experiences in with NGOs/INGOs.
- Experience in working with children, women and girls and protection services in the field.
Skills:
- Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Fluent in Dari/ Pashto, both written and spoken.
- Ability to write short and concise reports.
- Skilled at working as a team member.
- Possess group facilitation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Computer Skills, (MS office)
- Good reporting writing skills.
- Culturally sensitive and keep confidentiality
