Job Description
Grant Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the grants, by strengthening and optimizing the functioning of the budgeting, planning, and financial systems and setting up new processes and tools where necessary.
Job Requirement
(MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS):
- Manage grants by ensuring proper planning, budgeting, monitoring, and controlling of the activities and resources in accordance with AKAH-A policies and procedures.
- To finalize the interventions and budget for new projects
- Lead development of detailed implementation plans for the projects
- Represent the head of Strategy and Policy in negotiation with donors on changes of scope of the projects and budget (on need basis)
- Tracking of activities of all the projects of AKAH (using appropriate software) to ensure that the commitments under these projects are met in a timely manner
- Verify the accuracy and authenticity of financial records and reports prepared by the finance department.
- Coordinate project steering committee and oversight committee meetings,
- Ensure compliance with donor grant agreements and legal requirements for the project
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors for grant-specific audits
- Ensure timely prepation and submission or donor reports (narrative and financial)
- Check & review the quarterly and other periodical forecasts for donor and head office as required by the grant agreement
- Prepare periodic budget utilization sheet with the support of the finance department and submit to the CMT.
- Perform risk analyses and propose changes to improve the systems and procedures in terms of increased effectiveness and efficiency for the grants
- Any other responsibilities assigned by the CFO & head of SPDD.
(SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (professional qualification or affiliation will be preferred).
Experience: At least 5 years of work experience related to job designation and Previous experience working with AKDN will be preferred
Knowledge and skills:
- Planning and budgeting
- Ability to prepare financial statements.
- Understanding of accounting principles
- Ability to development of work plans using appropriate software
- Strong management capability, encompassing planning and people management skills.
- Understanding of Microsoft Dynamics
- Advanced Excell skills
- Understanding of regulations & requirements of major international donors
- Proven ability to perform well in stressful situations (e.g. with tight deadlines etc), quality-oriented, proven ability to work independently and in teams
- Detail oriented
- Understanding of basics of project management.
