Job Description
- Responsible for the review of the Afghanistan tax computations, tax provisions and implementations as applicable to the project.
- Collect all documents for tax payments made and prepare applicable forms necessary for submission to the tax department concerned on a monthly or yearly basis as required.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager in the preparation of SG Tax Returns at the end of accounting period as laid-out by the Afghanistan Revenue Department (ARD).
- Collaborate closely with the Finance Unit that is responsible for paying vendors and subcontractors regarding taxes paid and establish a system for proper accounting purposes.
- Provide tax reconciliation on a monthly basis for field and home office use.
- Submit all tax returns on behalf of Finance Department and ensure that it complies with the ARD’s Tax Laws and regulations.
- Ensure that proper filing system of all taxes documents is maintained at all times.
- Serve as the main focal point and representative of SG in all meetings held at the ARD or department associated with it.
- Provide tax advisory to Finance, HR and Procurement Departments when needed and ensure to keep these three (3) departments abreast with updates or any new tax laws being implemented in Afghanistan. Provide training when necessary.
- Ensure that tax files, reconciliation statements and other tax related documents are recorded and updated time to time.
- Report all problems encountered to the immediate superior so it can be resolved immediately.
- Prepare/Submit and Pay Withholding, BRT Taxes.
- Manage the day-to-day financial functions of the project.
- Assist the finance manager in the monthly/annual accounts closure, including bank reconciliations and submission of timely and accurate reports.
- Support the office on audit, financial risk management and fraud prevention issues
- Monitors budgets and expenditures and contribute to preparation of budgets
- Preparing Financial monthly/quarterly and yearly reports
- Reconciling daily, monthly and yearly transactions
- Preparing Financial statement on a monthly and yearly basis
- Ensure a proper filing system of all project files especially financial records of the project.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirement
Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master Preferred) in Finance, Accounting, Management, Business, Economics, Public Administration or related field.
- Special skills of developing financial management and information systems including databases are required
- Practical knowledge and experience in private sector financial management systems
- Broad knowledge of and linkages between the key areas of the budget and accountability cycle including; budget planning, preparation and execution, procurement and revenue management including taxation.
- Proven ability to conduct analysis of public sector systems
Experience: Minimum of 04 years of relevant experience with NGOs, INGOs or Public/Private sector.
- Experience in QuickBooks financial software.
- Must be an expert in utilizing QuickBooks.
- Professional experience in Taxation.
Language: Excellent language proficiency in spoken and written Dari, Pashto and English.
Other Skills Required:
- High attention to details and excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team, be able to create a supportive working relationship among all project teams.
- Maturity and ability to work long hours under pressure is essential.
- Should be willing to travel to provinces.
