Job Description
Job Purpose
The Case Management Technical Officer will work under the supervision of the Project Manager to whom he/she will report, this position will contribute to the capacity building of the child protection system, enhancement of Case Management, Monitoring and Reporting mechanism to ensure high quality of services for children through functional and active CPANs, DCPANs and a team of social workers in the western region of Afghanistan. The position will ensure regular monitoring and quality performance of social workers and social workers besides timely reports.
The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Provide training and on-going support to the team of social workers on case management and social work
- Provide regular technical support to social workers and social workers to conduct clear and accurate identification, assessment and development of care plans for individuals.
- In coordination with project manager lead the mapping of service provider, develop and update the referral pathways and ensure dissemination to the communities.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to the project sites and visit families to ensure the quality of performance and adherence to the internal and global standards for Case Management
- Facilitate case management meetings and case conferences to support social workers to analyse assessment information, make appropriate decisions in the child’s best interests and ensure a coordinated response
- Maintain positive coordination and relationship between CPANs, Social Workers and Social workers to ensure high quality deliverables and development of responsive and strong Case Management platform in the Western Region
- Maintain robust reporting mechanism and ensure proper data gathering and data accuracy based on M&E Plan.
- Ensure all project staff understand and carry out their duties in accordance with Child Safeguarding and Data Protection protocol to ensure provision of safe and dignified case management services.
- Implement measures to ensure that the team keeps confidential information and sensitive documents securely
- Conduct regular travel to project target locations and provide technical support to social workers
- Submit regular reports
- Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to War Child’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.

Job Requirement
Person Specification
War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.
Experience and mandatory criteria:
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology or another related field;
- 3-5 years relevant experience on Child Protection and Case Management;
- Experience of working with CPANs and Social Workers;
- Previous experience in a similar position with international or national organizations or government authorities;
- Knowledge of Case Management standards and procedures;
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team and work under pressure;
- Fluent in national languages, Pashto and Dari
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
- Good report writing and presentation skills
