Job Description

The Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Identify child protection cases, children living on-street, out-of-school, at-risk-of-working children, and/or children working in other forms of labor at high risk of harm.
  • Provide case management services in line with the National Standard Operating Procedures for case management.
  • The social worker will be independent, and responsible for ensuring case action plans and relevant administrative forms that facilitate accountability & planning are updated on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Active participation and coordination in the monthly provincial CPAN and district CPANs.
  • Providing communication with the children in conflict with the law in the JRC and establishing contact with the families of these children.
  • Evaluating active DCPANs and their capacities to provide technical services and evaluation to expand the establishment of new CPANs in other districts.
  • Hold awareness-raising sessions about child protection and children’s rights for parents and communities. 
  • The social worker will commit to maintaining excellent documentation of case management files.
  • The social worker will assume full responsibility to assess the level of risk that a child is exposed to and immediately report any cases that could evolve into high-risk cases to the direct line Manager.
  • Participate actively in a weekly case management team meeting remaining open to feedback and self-reflection.
  • Maintain proactive communication with all relevant organizations that can support vulnerable children.
  • Ensure full responsibility & accountability –for maintaining, drafting, and updating reports which include case management reports.
  • Refers vulnerable children to other service providers to receive services.
  • Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant with WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.
  • Any other tasks assigned by line manager.

Job Requirement

Person Specification

War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • Degree in Social Work, Law, and Sharia.
  • 1-2 years relevant experiences in Child Protection and Case Management.
  • Experience working with CPANs and Social Workers;
  • Previous experience in a similar position with international or national organizations or government authorities;
  • Knowledge of Case Management standards and procedures;
  • Fluent in national languages, Pashto and Dari
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
