Job Description
- The Radio Operator directly reports to the Country Security Advisor and any report of threat or risk should be written to the security Officer.
- The Radio Operator will coordinate the Security Situations closely with Country Security Advisor
Job Requirement
- Monitor and communicate with iMMAP vehicles and staff in Kabul, with appropriate partners.
- Immediately report any potential threats to iMMAP staff, assets and facilities.
- Immediately report emergencies, accidents and loss of contact with iMMAP staff/vehicles.
- Log all transmitted and received messages according to procedures.
- Log all vehicles movements according to procedures.
- Conduct periodic equipment inspections and tests in order to ensure that operations standards are met, and report all needs for repairs/maintenance.
- Coordinate radio related actions of locating and contacting staff that are missing or in distress.
Specific responsibilities:
- The radio operator should make sure that the defined Radio guidelines and SOPs are strictly implemented and should report any breach of these SOPs by the radio users.
- Operate Motorola VHF, UHF and Codon HF radio systems, GPS/GSM tracking and associated web platform, email, Thuraya, mobile phone and internal phone systems, in English and local languages.
- Log all communications neatly and accurately.
- Maintain location boards tracking iMMAP staff and vehicles.
- Alert security focal point/s of important events, by monitoring internet, TV and radio news in English and Persian, as well as via security alert systems.
- Control keys to all office / guest house spaces in off duty hours.
- Coordinate with transport section for facilitating the transport for staff and visitors.
- Awareness of every single event or issue that happens during their duty.
- Regular check the Radio Room’s emails at least every ten minutes.
- Responsible for conducting an accurate and complete handover briefing, including all information that occurred during their duty or will impact the other's duties. The handover note should be passed on to person replacing you and your immediate supervisor. Refer to Operator SOP for details.
- Monitor EM-NET and TV stations and communicate any announcement or incident to the security department.
- Responsible for drafting and distributing SMS announcements to all staff at the request of a member of the security department and announce the same information to all the drivers via VHF/UHF, and HF/Cell phone if VHF/UHF is out of range. SMSs should follow this format: “Security Alert: 0000hrs; Date; Incident; Advisory.
- Fulfilling any other related tasks that may be assigned by supervisors, iMMAP Security Department.
- Responsible to communicate any problem they face to their immediate supervisor.
