About Hand in Hand Afghanistan Organization: Hand in Hand Afghanistan Organization (HIHAO) is a not-for-profit organization based in Afghanistan. It started operations in 2007. HIHAO is part of the international Hand in Hand (HiH) network of independent organizations, working together towards a shared vision to alleviate poverty through job creation. The overall Hand in Hand mission is to promote the economic and social empowerment of women, by supporting the creation of sustainable enterprises, improved livelihoods and jobs. HIHAO has implemented/implementing projects funded by UNOCHA, FAO, Danida, GIZ, CAFOD, DFID, European Union, WFP, GIZ, USAID, Word Bank, Sida, Hilti foundation, Hand in Hand International and Hand in Hand Sweden across different provinces of Afghanistan with focus on women empowerment, poverty reduction and humanitarian support.

Job Description

Job summary

The Fundraising Manager is responsible for the overall fundraising initiatives for HIHAO and will contribute to the overall financial sustainability of the organization. She/He will be responsible to the program manager and works closely with the program and finance team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Developing and execution of fundraising strategies.
  • Creating fundraising goals and work towards achieving these goals.
  • Be involved in fund raising for the organization, preparing and writing concept notes and proposals.
  • Be involved in preparation of annual action plan for the organization including potential new programs.
  • Preparing budget estimation for the new projects in consultation with CFO and program unit.   
  • Coordinate and attend meeting with stakeholders, donors and partners and present HIHAO to the participants during the fundraising events. 
  • Liaison with donors for designing of new projects and amendments to the existing projects.
  • Liaison with UNOCHA, FAO and the related clusters such as FSAC, WASH, Nutrition, Protection and engaging in the events and meetings organized by the clusters and relevant working groups.
  • Mapping of potential donors and partners in consideration of different thematic areas.
  • Actively look for new funding opportunities and partnership opportunities.
  • In coordination with the media department, implementing a variety of marketing strategies and promotional campaigns to attract new funders.
  • Work towards expanding the reach of the organization and networking.
  • Work closely with the fundraisers at Hand in Hand International and HIH Sweden in designing projects. 
  • Engage in the process of reviewing project contracts and agreements before signing.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of proposals submitted, tracking the progress and reporting to the management of the status.
  • Any other tasks required by the position.

Job Requirement

  • A bachelor's degree in a field such as communications, public relations or business administration is required, a master’s degree will be preferred.
  • At least three years of previous experience of fundraising functions, familiarity with the UNOCHA Grant Management System is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with the FAO, WFP, UNDP, UN Women and other major donor concept note and proposal templates.
  • Experience of managing relationships with donors, partners and stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of the needs and priorities in Afghanistan.
  • Good knowledge of funding streams and donor priorities.
  • Effective communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Good working knowledge of the context and familiar with the type of work HIHAO is doing. 
  • Strong IT/computer, internet, email, web, MS Word, MS Excel or equivalent/compatible software.
