Job Description
Job Summary
The incumbent will support Livelihood Program Officer on the following responsibilities:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with farming communities and community/village representatives in the targeted districts/villages. work as a bridge between farming communities and the project and liaise with officials at the district level.
- Assist in the project Agriculture needs assessment survey and beneficiaries screening and selection process.
- Report project activities at the village and district level to the provincial livelihood officer.
- Assist in the baseline survey of the farmers in the targeted villages/communities.
- Assess the existing situation of agricultural extension and rural support services in target areas.
- Facilitate the process of developing and Running Farmers’ Field Schools (FSS), Farmers’ Self-Help Groups, Community Enterprises, and farmers’ training at the district/village level.
- Provide technical guidance and support to farmers for kitchen gardening and other agricultural practices.
- Contribute to market surveys, value chain needs assessments and training of benefactress in various skills based on their needs.
- Lead the distribution of agriculture inputs to the selected farmers in the targeted areas.
- Conduct and support ongoing monitoring of agriculture activities, through frequent visits to field sites to insure proper implementation of activities at the farm/ community level.
- Conduct capacity building trainings for project beneficiaries, community committee members and SMEs in the targeted areas.
- Assist during Post-Distribution Monitoring-PDM.
- Assist Livelihood Officer in the Preparation and development of the concept notes and ToRs for the business events and exhibitions.
- Identify value chain opportunities, notably by mapping and evaluating existing supply chains, and recommend additional priority opportunities for value chain and skills development.
- Outline value chain opportunities by developing project summaries and market analysis reports.
- Facilitate, monitor, and supervise the process of selection of lead farmers and other producers’ groups and the setup of key component outputs and tools, including the training activities, transfer of technologies, and facilitation of producer groups’ creation.
- Assist entrepreneurs, and prospective investors by providing advice and technical support, including business case development, economic viability analysis, risk assessment, and feasibility of value chain activities – projects.
- Maintain close coordination/linkages with relevant departments or agencies on the implementation of project value development activities and project product market linkages.
- Assist in the Preparation of the capacity-building training materials on (financial literacy, bookkeeping, principle of business management, branding quality control, production process, marketing, and business plan writing).
- Provide facilitation support to the targeted groups/entrepreneurs for opening a bank account and transferring the saving amounts into the opened bank account.
- Conduct business development training for entrepreneurs, SMEs, and project beneficiaries.
- Prepare and develop production plans and business plans for small households and entrepreneurs for scaling up their business/economic activities.
- Work closely with the departments of commerce and industry DoCI, Afghanistan chamber of commerce and investment ACCI, DAIL, and key stockholders (NGOs, community institutions and private sector
- Perform any other project-related tasks as and when required by project management.

Experience and Skills Required:
- At least 4 to 6 years of demonstrated experience in the following:
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with farming Communities in the fields of agriculture and community-based enterprises.
- Proven experience in the formation of Farmers’ Self Help Groups and Community enterprises (Business hubs).
- Demonstrated experience in the establishment of Farmers’ Field Schools, Demonstration plots, and Field days.
- Strong knowledge and understanding sub-national institutional contexts of Afghanistan.
- Experience in working with local government or NGOs on agriculture/livelihood-related activities in remote areas of Afghanistan.
Language Requirement:
- Good working knowledge of Pashto, Dari, and English is required.
Computer Skills:
- Good working knowledge of computer applications (MS Office, outlook, internet etc. )
