Job Description
- The MPSS counselors will provide counseling sessions at the schools, Transitional Centers, Child-Friendly Spaces (CFSs)
- Direct supervision of PSS counselors
- Conduct training sessions for PSS counselors on different topics, such as the main principles of counseling, communication skills, self-esteem, stress management, depression, anxiety disorder, etc.
- Supervise and assist in sessions conducted by PSS counselors at different levels (individual, community, family, and group).
- Identify children with health issues in Transitional centers, schools, and Child-Friendly Spaces and refer them to the health clinics.
- Connect Transitional Centers to health clinics to ensure the children have access to healthcare.
- Work with the project team to implement monthly targets; weekly work plans; database management; regular reviews of target indicators; and the processing of status updates from supporting staff.
- Report Child Safeguarding and/or PSEA cases when encountered.
- Develop training and learning materials for psychosocial counselors, CFS facilitators, and Social Workers.
- Identify staff gaps and training needs when they arise and communicate them to the Project Manager for his/her action.
- Coordinate day-to-day MHPSS/PSS activities in the region with the project manager.
- Support the collection and dissemination of data for joint planning, monitoring and evaluation, and advocacy.
- Conduct regular visits to monitor health services provided in Transitional Center, and facilitate the programmatic staff visits.
- Verifying health services are delivered to the children identified for support.
- Ensure weekly activity plans are created and properly displayed in PSS activity locations
- Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other pre-selected key topics.
- Represent the organization at general coordination working groups and clusters with donor’s humanitarian actors and local authorities when requested.
- Sharing and circulating MHPSS working and training tools and capacity-building opportunities among the team.
- Lead the planning and capacity-building training for PSS counselors.
- Maintain regular supervision of the project team and provide them with technical support and advice when needed.
- Ensure timely referral and follow-up of cases in need of further support.
- Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirement
- University Degree in a related field (Social Work, Psychology, etc.).
- Four years of relevant experience in MHPSS Counseling (preferably two years in a supervisory role).
- Must have good communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Fluent with Pushto, Dar and English.
Good computer literacy – MS office applications, web-based management information systems. - Willingness to travel and stay overnight in the northern and north eastern provinces and its associated districts
