About War Child UK: War Child was established in 1993 as a response to the brutal effects of conflict on children during the Balkans war. We are currently operational in Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic. War Child UK started its operation in the Western Region of Afghanistan in 2003 working in three (3) thematic areas namely Education, Protection and Livelihood. War Child UK’s main office is located in Kabul and a sub-office in Herat and Badghis.

Job Description

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide literacy and numeracy teaching services based on the MoE standards for the vulnerable women and girls in Integration Center based in Herat. He/she will be responsible for planning, designing and implementing the literacy package and to liaise well with center colleagues for improvement of the service quality.

 

Job Description

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class;
Organizing classes and taking responsibility for the progress of lessons;
Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students;
Provide literacy and numeric education to the children according to the MoE standards;
Assigning work, correcting and marking work carried out by his/her students;
Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behavior of one’s students;
Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students;
Reviewing    and    evaluating    one’s    own    teaching    and    learning    strategies, methodologies and program/s in line with the curriculum and guidelines;
Registering and monitoring the attendance of students under one’s care;
Liaising and collaborating with animators and or PSS facilitators persons and other professionals working with stated students;
Develop and submit daily, weekly and monthly report to the supervisor.
Complying with child safeguarding and vulnerable adults’ protocols and legislative requirements.
Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job deemed necessary or as requested by line manager/supervisor.

Job Requirement

Have bachelor degree in Education field.
2-3 years’ relevant experience in teaching and training fields preferably in humanitarian INGOs.
Experience in working with Children and Women
Have enough child protection
Good English Language Skills
Excellent Communication, coordination, Negotiation skills
Good report writing and presentation skills
