Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE:
Safeguarding Area Coordinator supports Head of Offices and Head of safeguarding in acting as coordinator on the ground to support in conducting trainings, monitoring visits, case management in all four provinces in the North, where SCI and contracted partners are working and implementing projects. Safeguarding Area Coordinator will combine elements of capacity building and monitoring whilst enforcing compliance and accountability, management and investigation, He/she will also support Head of safeguarding in building strong awareness, prevention, accountability mechanisms. The role is a roving position and holder will be directly reporting to Head of Office (of the base location) and will further technically guided/supported by head of safeguarding.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Assisting head of Safeguarding in managing an oversight of safeguarding mechanism in all four provinces in North while providing additional support in need to each office.
- Closely coordinate with all north provinces safeguarding technical teams to strengthen safeguarding mechanism and support on case management.
- Lead the process of Investigation in all NORTH provinces while maintaining tracker to ensure case closure KPI remains on track.
- Identify potential risks to children and adults in all SCI function and project activities, while assisting Head of office and head of Safeguarding in responding to gaps/concerns.
- Assist head of safeguarding in conducting awareness raising within SCI and outside with multiple stakeholders. This also include awareness among children, adult beneficiaries, partners, and Suppliers/venders/contractors. Similar support to all north provinces field safeguarding technical teams.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to project sites of SCI and partners, to ensure that SG due diligence is ensured while improving on accountability mechanisms on ground. Monitoring visits to all other provinces based on need.
- Update local SG reporting tracker regularly, while guiding other provincial safeguarding teams accordingly.
- During field visits ensure that all child and adult safeguarding concerns are reported effectively in line with the policy.
- High levels of professional safeguarding behaviour and maintain the standards required by the Safeguarding Policies and Code of Conduct.

Job Requirement
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Social science or any other related field.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Three years of experience in the area of Child protection/protection and familiar with Child and adult Safeguarding. Direct experience in Safeguarding and case management/investigation is an advantage and preference.
- Experience doing project monitoring and investigation.
- Multi-disciplinary experience of working successfully with senior managers to deliver major operational change with a track record of delivering results to high standards.
- Experience of building personal network with safeguarding focal points of SCI and partners.
- Experience of planning and undertaking training programmes/workshops in safeguarding at a range of levels (e.g. field workers, community based staff, project staff).
- Good verbal communication and report writing skills in English and Dari/Pashto languages.
- Good presentation skills.
- Demonstrable commitment to Children’s Rights.
- Ability to deliver results against demanding timetables and in the face of competing demands.
- Ability to travel and work within challenging environments.
- Awareness of own strengths and weaknesses and evidence of commitment to self-managed personal development.
