Job Description
The hygiene promotor is responsible to project manager and WASH engineer, he/she work closely with communities and provide hygiene awareness for the targeted communities in order to bring change in behavior and practice of communities. His or her efforts will contribute to reduce the risk of water and sanitation related communicable diseases by promoting good hygiene practice in communities. Coordinate with stakeholders to provide technical input wherever required.
- To mobilize the communities by explaining the benefits of WASH action and encourage children’s, women and men participation in hygiene promotion sessions
- To conduct WASH assessment on targeted area
- To demonstrate the use of WASH specific items, which need special knowledge for operation and maintenance, especially when using, water treatment equipment’s.
- To conduct participatory approach in promoting good water, sanitation and hygiene practices in targeted area
- Take part in the identification of beneficiaries for the WASH activities (latrine construction/rehabilitation, distribution of hygiene kits)
- Promote Hygiene to children to help them acquire safer hygiene behaviors
- To conduct participatory monitoring of water and sanitation facilities usage and maintenance with community
- To inform local authority and health department if there is outbreak in community that requires immediate response
- Keep an updated attendance sheet for the hygiene promotion sessions
- Report activities to WASH management
- To carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- To be flexible as required.
Job Requirement
- 3 years of experience in Sanitation and Hygiene Activities with NGOs
- High School graduate, or Degree in Nursing or medical background is preferred Good written and verbal Dari and Pashto Language skills
- Good reporting skill
- Computer (MS Office) skill
- Ability to travel to the targeted districts
- Knowledge of targeted communities
- Couples will be preferred
