About Afghan Family Guidance Association |AFGA: Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world.
Job Description
Description of Role:
The Training Coordinator works under direct guidance and instructions of Project Manager. She/he is required to develop, coordinate, and conduct Reproductive Health (RH) trainings across the country. She/he Ensures the integration of the project’s targets & expected outcomes throughout the trainings & project life cycle.

Administration & Coordination:
- Responsible for establishing & developing the projects’ overall training plan and following up the implementation of the plan accordingly.
- Responsible for designing & developing training programs (outsourced and/or in-house).
- Plan, organize, coordinate & ensure timely implementation of the trainings and relevant activities at management and supervisory levels.
- Coordinate the logistical requirements of trainings with admin & logistics departments of AFGA.
- Coordinate the trainings at provincial & regional level with the relevant stakeholders and governmental & non-governmental authorities.
- Play a key role in the achievement of the intended results and objectives of the trainings in the targeted provinces.
- Ensure budget utilization and target achievements of trainings are reviewed at least once a month as per the work plan.
- Ensure the quality of training materials’ translation from English into Dari and Pashto languages.
- Allocate duties and specific responsibilities to Training Officer(s) and training assistant and ,supervise to make sure that she/he performs well and in line with the training requirements, donor procedures, their job descriptions and AFGA standards.
Monitoring:
- Oversee implementation of the trainings ensuring that technical quality and standards are considered and respected during the implementation.
- Support the monitoring of the trainings delivered with the M&E Team.
- Provide need-based coaching to the trainers for rectification of the gaps identified during the monitoring visits.
- Contribute to the design & refinement of M&E tools and framework.
- Support in conducting M&E related assessments and surveys.
- Support in collecting data as per the M&E framework requirements.
Reporting:
- Provide regular and timely updates on progress and challenges to Line Manager.
- Draft (internal) weekly, bi-monthly & monthly narrative reports on the trainings conducted.
- Draft external training progress reports, ensuring the quality and accuracy of technical information provided.
- Any other task relevant to the area of duty.
The Training Coordinator will perform other tasks not listed in this Job Description but are reasonably associated to the position. The Training Coordinator must show initiative and complete all tasks given by her/his supervisor promptly and to the standard expected. The Training Coordinator must be able to work independently when asked and take initiative to solve problems without being asked. The Training Coordinator must do his/her job without being reminded of routine tasks or requests made by his/her supervisor.
Job Requirement
- Higher education in medical field (MD, Nurse, Bachelor in midwifery, etc.)
- Similar experience in reproductive & maternal field is preferrable.
- Strong technical knowledge of the primary health care services with specific focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child health (RMNCHA) on urban health and having knowledge of adolescent health will be a plus.
- Well familiar with the Afghanistan health services delivery system.
- At least 5 years’ proven work experience as a Training Coordinator, Master Trainer, Training Facilitator or similar roles.
- Ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).
- Fluency in English, Dari and Pashtu Languages.
- MS Office proficiency.
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to travel to various provinces of Afghanistan.
