Job Description
Position summary:
Social Worker /Community Mobilizer is responsible for community mobilization, community coordination, selection and referral of youths and adolescents to MYCs for registration and service provision. He/she will set up VT centers, make sure the VT Centers are equipped with VT equipment and materials on regular and timely manner. He/she will raise awareness of CBCPMs and Student Council on child rights, child protection issues, RH etc. He/she will provide support to youths on the program to develop and implement community-based sustainable programs
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Provide support in the selection of project implementation sites and beneficiaries (youths) in PDs and host communities
- Responsible for all aspects of project implementation at the community level
- S/he will be responsible for the identification, referral and registration of youths and adolescents in multipurpose youth centers
- Contribute in identification of marketable vocations based on labor/market survey and selection of vocational training approaches such apprenticeship, life skills or etc.
- Mobilize communities and coordinate with respective communities and relevant stakeholders (government department, INGOs, community leaders etc) on regular bases
- Support project team in establishing Multipurpose Youth Centers in project locations
- Regular monitoring and supervision of day-to-day project activities in MYC
- To maintain close cooperation and coordination with the targeted local communities and to be able to mobilize these to take active part in delivering livelihoods and empowerment services of project activities
- Provide support to and observe trainers if needed
- The CMs should be also helping rest of the staff on the marketing and business development support to the beneficiaries – They should coordinate with communities for organizing trade fares and other marketing and BDS related activities
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports and submit to supervisor
- Report to Project Manager if needed or MEAL department of WC
- Other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager and WC Management
Job Requirement
Qualification:
Academic Background and Knowledge/ Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in relevant disciplines (e.g., Social Work, Social Science, research methods, education etc) with three years of relevant experience
- Grader 12th certificate: with 3-5 your years working experience in social work/ community mobilization
- Additional qualification or certification of Social Work, community mobilization
- Strong understanding of local communities and social norms
- Familiarity with the humanitarian system and global humanitarian policy on working with youths and adolescents
Skills
- Good Communication and interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge of community development especially working with children, women, youths, adolescents etc
- Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
- Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines
- Culture sensitive and respect for local norms
- Confidentiality and privacy
- Excellent computer, MS office skills
