Job Description

Position summary:

The Community Perception Survey officer will provide relevant assistance to the survey coordinator and supervise field data collection teams. He/she will provide field level operational and logistical arrangements, implement survey field data collection according to the survey TOR/ plan, timeframe, and be responsible for overall quality and timely data collection.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare field work plan, ensuring the day-to-day management of the survey activities related to field
  • Contribute and participate in questionnaire development and its piloting and finalization  
  • Monitor survey implementation systematically through discussions and correspondence with the supervisor as well as frequent site visits to the targeted communities
  • Collaborate with relevant survey coordinator in order to have a better understanding of survey activity mechanism
  • Lead the data cleaning process  
  • Coordinate with community elders and local authorities for smooth and timely implementation of the field plan

 

  • Make sure that the reliability and validity standards are met and maintained during data collection
  • Check all the data collection verification forms and make sure that the forms are filled completely and accurately
  • Supervise field teams to make sure the data collection is properly done according to the methodological approach
  • In close consultation with the survey coordinator, make sure that the technical resources are available to the surveyors.
  • Make quality control through cross-checking of all survey data collection on spot on randomly based /or according to the plan.
  • Daily supervision of online data collection platform (Kobo) and ensure the quality of collected data.
  • Maintain up to date records and status of progress of all surveys and provide weekly report explaining any major findings/ issues related to the situation, field challenges and as well as security.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor and WC Management

Job Requirement

Qualification:

 

Academic Background and Knowledge/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in relevant disciplines (e.g., humanitarian studies, gender studies, international relations, statistics , research methods, social work) with four years relevant experience,
  • Additional qualification or certificate in survey conducting or research methods
  • Experience with promoting and mainstreaming AAP principles in humanitarian programming.
  • Strong understanding of Access to Information and Community Feedback and Response Mechanism

  Skills

  • Excellent communication skills both in writing and oral in local languages and English
  • Excellent supervisory skills and field experience
  • Understanding of cultural sensitivity during survey  
  • Keep confidentiality
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Data management skills and familiar with applications e.g., Kobo and other related programs
