Job Description

 Position summary:

Youth educator is responsible for educating youth and adolescents on peers’ education, menstrual health, hygiene promotion and a variety of topics. They may focus on health, hygiene (self-hygiene and environmental hygiene), wellness, social issues, or other topics relevant to youth and adolescents’ health.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and follow up of the action plan based to the project DIP,
  • Review and refine existing training modules on menstrual health, hygiene promotion, peer education and mental health,
  • Prepare training delivery plan
  • Conduct training session on menstrual health, hygiene promotion, peer education and mental health
  • Work with supervisor in planning and implementing activities related to menstrual health, hygiene promotion, peer education and mental health.  
  • Providing education to youths and adolescents including awareness sessions on reproductive health (RH) with focus on peer education and healthy lifestyles including hygiene promotions etc
  • Refer youth and adolescents, who need PSS counseling
  • Visit field and conduct session on hygiene promotion, mental health etc to the CBPM members and build their capacity
  • Provide technical assistance to other programs as requested or needed
  • File reports for activities and accomplishments on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, or as otherwise assigned.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the MYC coordinator on timely manner
  • Identify, collect and record success stories/cases studies and best practiced activities for improvement of the programs on regular bases
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Project Managert

Job Requirement

Qualification:

Academic Background and Knowledge/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline (e.g., MD, General Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health) with four years of working experience
  • Additional qualification or certification in Mental Health, Health Education, Hygiene Promotion, Psychology, Counseling, or in another relevant field is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage a large No of youths and adolescents
  • Strong understanding of MHPSS in Afghan context  

  Skills

  • Excellent communication skills both in writing and oral including presentation, networking, and interpersonal skills: English, Pashto, Dari
  • Excellent computer, MS office skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good reporting writing skills
  • Should be familiar with the area’s cultural traditions and its sensitiveness
  • Data management skills and familiar with applications e.g., Kobo and other related programs
