About AWSDC: The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) founded in 1999 is a national non-governmental organization (NGO), dedicated to the promotion and protection of the rights of women in Afghanistan and supporting Afghans to live in peace. AWSDC key thematic focus areas are Peacebuilding, Women Rights/GBV, Livelihoods, WASH and Humanitarian Response. The organization geographical areas are Kabul, Kunduz, Faryab, Herat, Balkh and Samangan Provinces. The organization since the startup of first wave of COVID-19 has provided humanitarian assistance to nearly 65,000 COVID-19 affected men, women and children under its geographical areas. Likewise, AWSDC is one of Humanitarian Actors that provides protection, WASH and Emergency Shelter and None food items to vulnerable Afghanistan across the country.

Job Description

About the project:

AWSDC is in the process to hire competent staff to implement Child Protection in Guzara Jebrail and Kahdistan of Herat province. The focus of the project is to establish and run six Child Friendly Space (CfS) in six schools, provide community awareness on child protection, establish and strengthen Child Protection Networks (CPANs), conduct child case management, develop the capacity of staff as well as other service providers on child protection,  conduct dialogue sessions with community leaders and increase community awareness on child protection and the type of services provided by AWSDC under the project.

 Position Summary:

The position holder (Child Protection Manager) will be responsible for a team of 2 Child Safe Space supervisors, 4 Psychosocial Counsellors, 4 social workers, 10 Child Case workers, an  access focal point and an admin/finance officer with the key responsibility to plan, implement and support the project team in the implementation of the planned activities under Child Protection in Herat Province. The staff will be placed in AWSDC Provincial office in Herat city with frequent travel to the Guzara Jebrail and Kahdistan in Herat province

Job Requirement

Job Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the project activities in the target Province with stakeholders including line departments of de-facto authorities, Afghanistan protection clusters, Child Protection sub-cluster, UNHCR, and other protection actors.
  2. Participation in Child Protection Cluster at national as well as at regional level.
  3. Prepare the daily, weekly and monthly plans in compliance with the project work plan,  outputs, activities and targets
  4. Work on inter-agency referral pathway to ensure the cases are timely referred to service providers.
  5. Develop and providing the child protect and promote child right material
  6. Under take regular field visit on program quality and Provide recommendations and feedback on field team performance considering roles and regulations of organization, donor and De Facto Authorities.
  7. Establishment of community and school based groups such as CBCPN, student council
  8. Ensure that the planned school based Psychosocial support to children in schools are timely planned, implemented and support in join coordination with Psychosocial Counselors, CFS supervisors.
  9. Ensure that the community awareness on child rights/protection is conducted with the support of Social workers.
  10. Support and ensure that child case management with the support of Child Case Workers
  11. Ensure proper planning, implementation and capacity development of child protection organization on CP in Herat.
  12. To conduct various trainings for the CBCPNs, CPAN, staff, children groups, center facilitators, parents, Employers, student’s councils
  13. Regular visit to the assigned field to participate and facilitate CBCPNs CPAN monthly meetings
  14. Initiate community dialogues to expend community awareness with and through the support of social workers.
