Job Description
- The Nutrition Technical officer provides high quality technical assistance and support to technical staff and Health Facilities staff; he/she will work to increase health facility staff capacity to deliver appropriate services to improve women and children nutritional status.
- Regular supervision of health facility staff (midwives, nurses and head of health facilities) to ensure proper delivery of nutritional services (prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment).
- Overall management of SAM, MAM, IYCF, Iron and micronutrient distribution, TSFP and IMAM in the HFs Ensure the staff level of knowledge and identify their needs for training.
- Follow up of breast feeding and breast-feeding substitutes in HFs Follow up of Growth/Monitoring of all children and screening of mother’s nutritional status coming to HFs and HPs.
- Provide the Health Facility Staff with high quality technical support and on-job training in field of nutrition and health.
- Conduct training in field of Nutrition and Health for Health facilities staff and if required for CHS& CHWs Inspire the medical staff in daily malnutrition screening and proper nutritional consultation in health facilities.
- Help the technical team in setting the target indicators for nutritional/health up to the end of project.
- Evaluate progress towards indicators and find the gap against progress.
- Ensure timely and appropriately reporting by Health facilities. Ensure transfer of updated policies and guidelines related to Nutrition to all Health Facility staff and Health Posts.
- Ensure enough equipment required for quality Nutritional service provision in HFs.
- Ensure every child under 5 is going for growth monitoring and have the Growth monitoring chart.
- Ensure every PLW is receiving IYCF consultation in HFs and HPs coordination with reproductive health officer.
- Coordinate with HMIS-Officer to ensure the data and information is collected and entered to database.
- Assist the Project manager in preparation of quarterly report by providing needed data and information.
- Participate in meeting/workshops in order to upgrade technical and managerial knowledge.
- To provide to Project Manager monthly action plans and monthly reports.
- Able to Run Nutrition Database and Reporting.
- 100% Traveling to provinces for monitoring and supporting supervision from each HFs
- Assist program line managers, supervisors in the planning and implementing of program. Contribute.
- Develop and submit project progress (weekly, monthly and quarterly) and other reports as per requirement to project donor.
- Liaise with partners (governmental and non-governmental), Participate in all coordination meeting with UN, NGOs and government agencies.
- Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual project activity plan, allocate required fund for activities as pore endorsed budget, and keep track of expenses against the allocated budget.
- Lead the different sections of the project and provide technical support.
- Follow organization established policies, procedures and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiative works/ performance.
- Identify and make decision to solve immediately any problem which interferes in the delivery of services or in achieving the program objectives and provide report to his/her immediate supervisor.
- Meet all Supervisors to discuss program progress and problems on a weekly base.
- Evaluate and supervise the performance of the project staffs
- Responsible for the planning, implementing, and supervision of the project activities.
- Monitor and supervise progress of programs.
- Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly report of program activities to Donor.
Job Requirement
- University degree in Medical required.
- At least 3 years’ experience in relevant field in governmental or non-governmental organizations.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint Excel and internet is required.
- Good communication skills and strong local language correspondence skill.
- Fluently English, Dari and Pashtu speaking /writing skills are required.
- Ability to write logical, clear and concise reports.
