Job Description

ABOUT THE JOB

The Protection officer, under the direct supervision of Protection Team Leader, is primarily responsible for advocacy, spreading the messages on protection concerns and risks, monitoring partners’ activities/services, liaising with government and other key stakeholders and trainings to the field. The job holder has constant communication to Protection Team Leader for conducting the protection monitoring with targeted beneficiaries.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting Protection Monitoring through the questionnaire/Tablet
  2. Conduction of the Service Monitoring and update the service mapping file
  3. Sharing of information on humanitarian assistance and services in target settlements and places of origin
  4. Conduction of the community mobilization
  5. Conduction of the coordination meetings with the community leaders, elders and decision making structures
  6. Refer the cases who are affected by protection risks and concerns to the referral mechanism and pathway
  7. Refresher meetings with service providers
  8. Engage the men and women of the community in discussions around the rights of children, women, persons with disabilities and gender based violence;
  9. Collect information on IDPs population movements and forced eviction/return
  10. Support protection department to find possible gaps in communities and address appropriately
  11. Support protection related advocacy initiatives
  12. Weekly and monthly reports to the line manager

Job Requirement

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies: 

  • 2-3 years Working experience with INGOs/NGOs mostly in protection
  • Essential knowledge of IDPs/returnees’ populations
  • Knowledge of national law and/or human rights principles and laws
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, proven self-initiative and problem-solving abilities
  • A commitment to protecting human rights

Education/qualifications:

  • University degree, law and/or other social sciences faculties 
  • Familiarity with Afghan laws
  • Ability to clearly express one’s thoughts, to analyze and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to set priorities and show initiative, to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Languages:

  • Good knowledge of English and fluency in Dari and Pashtu
