About Women Activities & Social Services Association (WASSA): The Women’s Activities and Social Services Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 as Afghanistan's first women’s independent organization. WASSA aims to promote the women’s equal participation in socio-economic sectors and support the current humanitarian crisis by providing emergency humanitarian and livelihood assistance to vulnerable households, especially women.
Job Description
The purpose of this position is to lead the CFS facilitators in Herat. He will provide psychosocial support services (PSS) and Psychological First Aid (PFA), through Child Friendly Spaces. The job holder will train CFS facilitators to safely identify and refer cases from the community. Child-friendly spaces will be equipped with recreational and educational kits to provide a wide range of activities responding to children's needs for play and learning, as well as their psychosocial needs.
The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Responsible for providing CFS services in the CFSs
- Assists in developing and maintaining an environment that promotes physical, social and emotional development through arts, crafts, games and other child friendly activities;
- Identify vulnerable children for PSS support through static and mobile services;
- Identify and refer children in need of case management to CP actors on a regular basis;
- Design and implement recreational and psychosocial support (PSS) activities, actively involving children (with a strong focus on child’s specific needs and vulnerabilities);
- Ensure that children get all necessary support during the activities and that rules and discipline are set up in a positive and constructive way;
- Prepare activities plan/schedule and arrange materials needed for the activities;
- Collect information (attendance sheets, questionnaires, etc.) and report identified cases of children with specific needs/extremely vulnerable to the Psychosocial Officer.
- Ensure safety and wellbeing of the children at the CFS and as well as the environment
- Ensure that all games and equipment are available and counted at the end of the day and ensure children are using the games and equipment in a proper way and rotation system.
- Play a vital role in setting up and running recreational activities for children using various individual and team games, and storytelling enabling access to information, child protection messages.
- Ensure child safeguarding checklists is followed in the in the child friendly space.
- Support children to understand the feedback mechanism and use it to provide their feedback in confidential and safe manner and ensure responses are provided to children on timely basis.
Job Requirement
- Minimum Diploma Degree (Bachelor Degree in social science, phycology, sociology is preferred)
- Minimum 1year work experience in Child Protection with I/NGOs
- Experiences with working inside Child Friendly Space
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening skills
- Ability to allocate and review priorities to meet the deadlines Ability to identify problems ad resolutions
- Able to work independently with little supervision, reliable, trustworthy, and committed to team’s success
- Commitment and to understand of WASSA values
