Job Description
Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to deliver lifesaving support and emergency protection services to the most vulnerable families, particularly those who have been displaced, whilst strengthening the resilience of civil society. The PM for the proposed project will lead the team who will implement the project for provide emergency protection services and cash assistance to the most vulnerable children and families in Herat, which responds to the most pressing needs of affected populations. In turn, the project manager will support the strengthening of civil society through partnership with WASSA and CRDSA.
The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Manage the day-to-day planning and implementation of the project activities ensuring optimal management and utilization of human and financial resources of the project
Facilitate the process of project registration and coordination with the relevant line departments at the city and district level; - Lead the monthly review meetings with partners and project staff, to track progress of the project to ensure timely delivery of project outputs.
- Responsible for planning, tracking, and reporting of project deliverables and support the team in Herat.
- Lead the implementation of the project and strengthening of civil society through partnership with WASSA and CRDSA.
- Close coordination with UN education cluster, and UN child protection cluster to ensure coordination of effort, efficiency and prevent duplication of services. Participate in the relevant sub-cluster meetings and ensure active representation of War Child UK;
- Lead the project and make sure that each partner is delivering the project activities in their respective area following War Child protocol.
- Provide technical support and coordinating the project activities to assess whether the project components are effectively and timely delivered.
- To make sure that WCUK are able to further provide technical support, Standard Operating Procedures and training in child protection, cash assistance, and safeguarding to WASSA and CRDSA.
- To ensure that community-based child protection systems are operating and strengthened in Injil, Karokh and Herat city.
- In consultation with the MEAL manager, develop the Indicator Tracking Table for the project and track progress against the indicators;
- In consultation with MEAL, providing monitoring tools and coordinate monitoring activities, particularly post-distribution monitoring as an additional way to support both partners.
- Represent the project to relevant government departments, maintain regular contact and build good relations with stakeholders and regularly update them on the progress of the project implementation and challenges;
- Carry out monthly budget reviews of the project budget in coordination with the Finance team;
- Prepare consolidated monthly and quarterly reports for the project including submission of the project reports in the cluster reporting hub.
- Maintain regular communications with WASSA and CRDSA, and other humanitarian actors in the project locations to ensure coherence and quality delivery of the project.
- Supervise project staffs and provide guidance in the development of their weekly plan and ensure that project activities as described in the project implementation plan are delivered in a timely manner.
- Support the security department in conducting regular security field assessments of the project sites.
- Oversee and guide procurement, admin, and finance activities of the project are according to organization policies.
- Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.
- Other tasks as requested by the Emergency response manager.

Person Specification

Experience and mandatory criteria:
- University Degree in Social Science or Social Work or relevant field;
- 3-4 years’ relevant experience in emergency and child protection response projects preferably in humanitarian INGOs;
- Experience in working with Children and Women;
- Excellent coordination, facilitation, and negotiation skills;
- Proficiency in English (both written and verbal);
- Good report writing and presentation skills;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
- Ability to analyze and solve problems and facilitate effective decision making;
- High level of self-awareness and good interpersonal relations;
- High frustration-tolerance level and ability to cope with stressful working conditions;
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently;
