Job Description
- Ensuring that the telephone, VHF and Codan base stations are set up and their antennae aligned correctly so that communication is possible with all Bases 24hrs a day.
- Ensuring that the telephone, HF radio and VHF radio systems are monitored AT ALL TIMES.
- Receiving and recording all messages for ACTED Kabul base or any of the staff in base at that time, and ensuring that all messages are passed to the relevant person.
- Ensuring that the log-book is an accurate and well-kept record of every transmission received or sent on any of the radio room equipment.
- Manage and maintain the Radio Room and the Movements system by:
- Reading and understanding the ACTED Communications handbook.
- Keeping all Radio Room equipment complete, up-to-date and in good order.
- Maintaining the movement’s board as an accurate and up-to-date record of all ACTED KL staff movements in the field or around Kabul.
- Carrying out correct travel and arrival report procedures and recording all travel and arrival reports on the board.
- Understanding current travel procedures, travel times, and movement restrictions, and transmitting them to ACTED staff.
- Perform other duties requested by his/her supervisor
Job Requirement
- High School graduate with specialized skills and training in operation of radio communications equipment in a security environment.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant radio operation experience at the national or international level is required.
- Knowledge of Sat phone, HF, UHF and VHF radio operation;
- Solid computers skills (MS Word, Excel);
- Physically fit.
- Fluency in English language and national languages of duty station Dari and/or Pashto.
