Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Gender & Youth Mainstreaming Manager (GYMM) will work closely with SHAO M&E department and SHAO Program units especially the  Women & Youth empowerment Department, Education Department, Child Protection Department to balance the SHAO programing plans and activities by evaluating them through gender mainstreaming and youth participation perspective.

The GYMM will be play an inclusive role in different cycles of program and project management cycle of different initiatives to ensure gender and youth mainstreaming at all levels.

REPORTING: The Gender & Youth Mainstreaming Manager  works directly with SHAO Head of Program, SHAO Programs Coordinator, Project managers and gender specialists of different projects and programs and develop a complex reporting system through different levels reporting and analysis summaries to identify and effectively address the gender and youth mainstreaming gaps in SHAO programming.

Job Requirement

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Under the supervision of the head of program, the holder of this position will perform the following specific activities:

  1. Work with program unit to complement the program and project designs with gender and youth mainstreaming components
  2. Work in close coordination with program and project managers, provincial coordinators and other leading decision makers for close follow-up of gender and youth related indicators
  3. Work with M&E unit to include gender and youth related indicators and relevant milestones in M&E framework, M&E check-lists and analysis of collected data.
  4. Participate in program and project coordination meetings (internal) as well as cluster meetings (external) to share the analysis results and related recommendations for improvement of situation.
  5. Establish and maintain active relationships and liaisons with Government counterparts, multi/bilateral donors, civil society organizations, institutes and academia on gender equality and women’s issues to:
    1. Strengthen key alliances and partnerships,
    2. Enhance collaboration,
    3. Share and influence agenda and priority setting, mobilize resources, and to develop and implement related policy and programmes; 
  6. Develop networks and partnerships with appropriate UN organizations, Donors, ministries and officials, civil society and other stakeholders for gender equality and women´s empowerment in relation to UN Women´s strategic priorities in the region.
  7. Work closely with women and girl beneficiaries in helping them prioritize their needs during needs assessment, identify gender specific indicators to measure the fulfillment of these needs and methods of measurement
  8. Work with community women to measure the project performances in terms of gender mainstreaming and impact evaluation of the results.
  9. Work closely with project staff to design, plan and implement gender related activities.
  10. Assist girls and women related programs/ project in accordance to project implementation plan.
  11. Conduct meetings; organize interviews and assessments and studies as necessary.
  12.  Manage beneficiary feedback, SEA and GBV complaints in a confidential manner to support SHAO accountability to beneficiaries.
  13. Perform any other relevant task as assigned by the head of programme unit.

   Computer & Soft Skills

  • Fluent language skills in English, Pashto and Dari (Written, verbal and comprehension)
  • IT skills in Windows 2010, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint (Additional knowledge of Outlook, Project and Visio as a Plus Point)
  • Typing Skills in English, Pashto and Dari
  • Good interpersonal, negation and  presentation skills
