Community mobilizers have the most important role in all community level facilitation and their work must be strategic to ensure that the community becomes spaces in which transparent, accountable, inclusive and pro-poor development processes are practiced and institutionalized
The community mobilizer is responsible to maintain close relationship with the communities to facilitate a smooth program and project implementation. Facilitate awareness creation measures and facilitate responses to conflict as a tool to enable their participation in their development process.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Mobilize and sensitize communities on program activities and introduce the project to district and community level.
- Conducting a surveys and assessment of the communities and select the project location in consultation with communities (men, women, boys, girls)
- Raise awareness of communities regarding the program.
- Organize first contact with district and village's authorities.
- enhance community awareness
- Support and identify the project right holders.
- Provide the related trainings to the right holders.
- Facilitate and support the distributions in the community level.
- Assess training needs of the right holders in mid-stream and adjust refresher training.
- Any other official tasks given by line manager.
- Reports to Project Manager.
- Create positive relations with community through regular meetings and informal discussion for identifying and addressing WASH needs and issues.
- Create plans for establishing Water Management Committee with community members and elders to monitor and support the WASH activities in the community.
- Work with community to identify WASH needs, create work plan, assuring that community members are supporting the WASH program and Water Management Committee members.
- Establish and maintain productive work relationship and coordinate activities with provincial and district stakeholder.
- Ensure the transparency in well repair/construction and Hygiene Kit distribution activities in the community and records.
- Prepare training materials and programs with assistance of WASH Project Manager and other staff
Job Requirement
- This post requires over night stay in the mentioned districts and the condidates should be able to stay overnight
- Strong oral and written communication skill in Pashto; skills in Dari will also be an asset.
- Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics and development.
- Least two years of experience in community mobilization, particularly for community participation, conflict resolution and resource mobilization.
- Knowledge of Emergency WASH Projects
- Sound training skills, including for communities.
- Ability to frequently travel to the target communities.
Technical Skills:
- Particular experience in community mobilization.
- Team player with high level of facilitation skill.
- Ability to work hard and long, self-driven
- Hard worker under the high-pressure situation.
Experience :
- 2 years experience in social mobilization, trainings and social work with involvement in WASH program
- Having past experience in the districts of Sholgara, Kishindeh & Zari district of Balkh is a plus point.
- Past working experience with KOBO Data Collection Tool is highly desirable.
