About EQUALITY for Peace and Development (EPD): Organization Brief Background: EQUALITY for Peace and Development (EPD) is an Afghan non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2010. EPD envisions Afghanistan as a peaceful and prosperous state where all Afghans enjoy equal rights without any fear or discrimination. EPD’s mission is to assist and guide women and youth at the community and policy levels to build community structures and jointly promote peace, and good governance and provide support to their communities. To realize its mission, EPD uses research and assessment, training and capacity building, awareness and mobilization as well as basic service delivery strategies to empower women and youth to resume their leadership roles more effectively in their communities. Likewise, in response to the current situation, EPD has been engaged in the delivery of Humanitarian Response to the affected population in Afghanistan. EPD is engaged in the implementation of Peacebuilding- Social Cohesion, Good Governance- Anti-Corruption, and Support of cash and NFI to affected women and vocational Skills training. EPD's thematic focus areas are Peacebuilding, Good Governance, GBV, and Humanitarian Response. Job Description

Job Summary:

In 2021, Peace Direct began working with EQUALITY for Peace and Development (EPD); together, established the Local Action Fund in Afghanistan in the latest of the Peace Direct small granting programs, already active in seven countries. This model of work promotes greater local ownership and allows local leaders to control the funding they need. EPD is dedicated to empowering women and youth at the community and policy level in Afghanistan. Working on the Local Action Fund, identifies local organizations needing support, and gives out small-scale grants to enable them to resolve conflict in their communities.

  1. Support and work closely with the project manager to take responsibility for the overall project and operations in his/her province
  2. Support the project manager to prepare and submit narrative reports and work plans in consultation with the selected CSO organizations in the province
  3. Support the project manager to organize monthly monitoring and supervision visit plans
  4. Support the project management team in the mapping of CSOs, WROs, and local networks to identify potentially eligible small grants
  5. Provide support to the small grants for the CSOs network at the provincial level
  6. Support the project manager in developing a platform for coordination of small grants to discuss pressing issues and to develop a detailed action plan for advocacy and awareness-raising sessions
  7. Participate and lead the logistical items of training organized by the project in the province
  8. Supervise facilitators training at the provincial level
  9. Conduct field visits of the project activities based on the monthly plan in collaboration with the provincial organizations
  10. Conduct a rapid assessment to gather data on the risk of hunger among women at the provincial level
  11. Provide and lead humanitarian support to vulnerable women and girls at the provincial level
  12. Participate in and support the monitoring and evaluation of the project to identify the impact and provide lessons learned at the provincial level
  13. Organize a post-distribution Monitoring (PDM) survey to collect and understand the beneficiary’s feedback on the financial assistance provided by the organization
  14. Perform any other task assigned by the project manager

 

Job Requirement

Job Requirements:

  • University degree with at least two years of relevant work experience
  • Good English writing and speaking knowledge, and capability to operate a computer
  • Fluency in the two main Afghan languages, Pashto & Dari (writing, speaking, and comprehension)
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Effective communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
