At present, it is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the position of Technical Senior Officer (Nutrition, Mental Health) at its Bamyan and Daikundi District Office – Afghanistan.

Job Description

Job Summary
The incumbent of this position work as part of regional health team to oversee the health team related nutrition and mental health staff in communities and to provide technical support in the area of nutrition of mental health and psychosocial counselling for smooth implementation of the related interventions/activities to the target health staff. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities
•    The Technical Senior Officer (TSO) should oversee the overall implementation of the relevant project mental health and nutrition activities in all target areas/communities. 
•    The TSO is responsible to provide clinical MHPSS and nutrition technical guidance to the relevant staff implementing the mental health and nutrition related activities in the communities in accordance with MoPH stand guidelines and procedures.  
•    The TSO should lead the mental health and nutrition field teams, provide technical oversight in related areas (MH and nutrition) and ensure that standard and sustainable practices are adapted to ensure Quality MHPSS and nutrition services to the beneficiaries.
•    The TSO should oversee the integration of mental health and psychosocial support in primary health cares and COVID-19 adaptation response in all target areas.
•    The TSO is responsible to ensure effective utilization of resources allocated to the MH and nutrition related activities/interventions.
•    He / she should represent the organization in MHPSS and nutrition related meetings and other coordination platforms within and outside the settlement/ districts and provinces.
•    He/ She should conduct regular field visit to provide any technical support required for the team on the time base to avoid mis-implementation in the target activities.
•    Identifying capacity needs for mental health and nutrition staff, develop plan and provide required capacity building intervention to capacitate the staff for quality implementation of the targeted activities with consideration of MoPH standard guidelines and procedures to effectively achieve the target goal.
•    Takes care of administrative duties in the project office and liaises on these with concerned departments.
•    Develop and submit the required reports to the related supervisor with close coordination of MIS team. 
•    To ensure relevant activities are implemented according to approved work plan and allocated resources with consideration of AKF, MoPH and donor strategy and manuals.
•    Take active part with health program team and represent the progress versus approved plan and provide the justification if the progress is not meeting the approved work plan. 
•    To develop and implement the training plan for Nutrition and mental health trainings for targeted staff and communities’ platforms.
•    Work with technical relevant staff to adapt and disseminate guidelines, tools and procedures that will support the achievement of quality service.
•    Contribute to the development of lessons learned from programs and projects related interventions and apply them to modify existing programs and improve the design of new projects.
•    To ensure from implementation of Rational Use of Medicine (RUD) and Medical Drugs Supply (MDS).
•    Maintain close coordination with the mental health nutrition relevant stakeholders at districts and provincial level.
•    Keep records of project relevant documents, such as reports, plans, etc
•    To report any challenge miss affecting the implementation including financial problems with line manager and health management.
•    Respect the target communities’ cultures, traditions, and costumes.
•    Respect all AKF policies, rules and regulations and practice accordingly.
•    Comply with AKF policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
•    To carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects AKF’s commitment to protecting children in accordance with the Child Safeguarding Policy

Occasional Significant Duties 
•    Team engagement and presentations for workshops.
•    Report any Security related information to the field for Regional Health Program Manager or He/she assigned security focal point
•    Perform any other job-related duty assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirement

Required Qualifications and Experiences 
•    Graduated from Recognized Medical University (MD), post graduate degree/diploma in Mental health or nutrition is preferred.
•    Medium Knowledge of computer skills specially Excel for preparing the reports.
•    5 Years work experience in health program mental health and Nutrition section.
•    Good verbal and written communication skills in English
