Job Description
Position Description:
Mobilize community leaders and social workers to declare open defecation free (ODF) village and promote the practices of proper sanitation and hygiene
Responsibilities:
- The Hygiene and Sanitation Promoter (HSP) is responsible for the planning and implementation of all village level activities in the assigned project sites.
- Work closely with the Hygiene & Sanitation Supervisor / H&S Coordinator to identify the natural leaders and enabling the natural leaders towards mobilization of their community to achieve the Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in their respective villages.
- With support from the Hygiene & Sanitation Supervisor, develop monthly activity plans to achieve expected results i.e. open defecation free village.
- Coordinate the work with natural leaders, school teachers, health workers, CDC and Shaura members, religious leaders, local and government representatives towards the success of CLTS in terms of validating the ODF status, abstaining from subsidy and related activities which is not supported by the CLTS approach.
- Initiate and follow-up the action plan prepared with the CLTS committee and women health action committee after the post-triggering process.
- Assist the female CLTS facilitators liaising with the female CHWs and establishing and training the Family Health Action Groups (FHAGs) from the mothers having children less than five years of age.
- Vigorous follow up from the communities they are triggered.
- Coordinate with the Hygiene & Sanitation Supervisor to deliver training, coaching, and mentoring CLTS committee, women health action group to motivate villagers to build their latrine and improve the proper sanitation and hygiene behavior.
- Conduct pre and post trigging session for each CDC.
- Effective use of IEC materials in the target villages and their follow up.
- Participate in any type of project assessment or monitoring activities such as KAP survey and baseline survey.
- Prepare basic CLTS progress reports regarding sanitation and hygiene activities on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Participate in DACAAR’s offered training and orientation course to enhance skills and knowledge on the CLTS process.

- Provide technical advice to the villagers in building a sanitary latrine.
- The holder of this position must strictly follow the organization existing security policies, procedures and daily instructions of the safety personnel.
- Any other relevant tasks are given by the supervisor
